Kirstie debated on going to the show. She knew it was probably a bad idea, but she wanted to do something for Adeline to cheer her up.

She took into account all of the risks. Sighing, she went to Adeline's room.

"Hey, hun.." She walked in, sitting on her bed.

She didn't say anything, didn't look at her.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you." She told her.

Adeline turned towards her, but still didn't say anything.

"I got a surprise for you." She said.

"What is it?" Adeline asked.

"I knew that would get you to talk." Kirstie laughed, making the girl smile. "But I cant tell you. Thats what a surprise is."

"Come on, get dressed." She said, getting up from the bed.

Kirstie had never seen the girl get ready so fast. Laughing, she walked downstairs, grabbing her things.

"Ready to go?" She asked.

"Yess!!" Adeline squealed.

"Let's go then." She walked out of the house and to the car.

Putting the directions in, she started driving to Brandon, Mississippi. Her anxiety rose as she pulled into the parking lot.

Taking a deep breath, she put on a smile, so Adeline wouldn't notice.

Getting out of the car, she waited for Adeline to get out so they could go inside.

She knew that it wasn't sold out, so tickets shouldn't be a problem.

Grabbing Adeline's hand, they walked inside the building. Once she had gotten the tickets, they went to their seats.

The crowd was yelling, as they always do. Kirstie smiled, missing the sound.

Adeline was in awe. She had never been to a concert, so everything was interesting to her.

Kirstie pulled out her phone, snapping a picture of the girl. Smiling, she posted it on her private Instagram.

Suddenly, the band began to sing their intro. They sounded amazing, especially with the new member. In Kirstie's opinion, that girl was probably better than her.

Once they were all out on the stage, tears welled up in Kirstie's eyes. She had good reasons for leaving, but that didn't mean that she never wanted to do it again.

* * *

During Kevin's cello solo, the guys had gotten into their Halloween costumes. When they had come back on stage, they announced that they would be singing a medley of songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

As they sung, pictures appeared behind them of their past costumes and halloween parties.

A picture of Kirstie, Scott, and Avi came on the screen. The crowd cheered, screaming Kirstie's name.

Adeline looked up at her, "Mommy! That's you!"

Kirstie nodded, "Yeah, it is."

"You know those guys?" She asked.

"They're my old friends." Kirstie told her.

She turned back to the group, not asking anymore questions.

The medley was amazing, obviously. Scott and Kevin were always good at coming up with ideas. She could tell that they both worked on it.

The Encore had finished, making everyone cheer and clap for the band. Kirstie grabbed Adeline's hand, trying to leave without being seen.

They had just made it out of the building when fans began to yell and gasp. Camera flashes blinded Kirstie, making her shield her face.

She had no where to go, there were fans all around her. She picked Adeline up, trying to get her way out of the mob.

"Guys, I appreciate that you all have missed me, but I need to leave." She tried, but they wouldn't leave her alone.

Groaning, she grabbed her phone, calling Darien.

He picked up right away, "Hello?"

"I need your help-" One girl was taking a selfie, trying to get Kirstie to smile, "I came to the show. There are a bunch of fans around me and I can't get out. I have to get Adeline home."

"Okay. I will be right out." He hung up the phone.

Minutes later, Darien came out, shooing the fans away. Once they were gone, Kirstie sighed, "I sure don't miss getting bombarded every night."

Darien laughed. "I understand." He was acting weird.

"They know I'm here, don't they?" She asked.

He simply nodded. Kirstie took a deep breath. "Okay.."

"Okay?" Darien asked.

"Let's go in. I need to do this.." She told him.

She put Adeline down, grabbing her hand, following Darien to the bus.

He opened the door, walking inside. Kirstie went in behind him, still holding onto her daughter's hand.

The bus went silent as soon as everyone saw her. She waved, awkwardly. "Hey.."

Scott was the first one to get up. He sprinted to her, hugging her tightly. Mitch and Kevin followed. Kirstie hugged them back, not realizing she had missed being near them.

She saw Esther smile, but Kirstie knew it was fake. She was probably still angry with her.

A little voice was heard, "Ow." Adeline said.

The three guys jumped back, startled by the noise. "Who is this?" Kevin asked, bending down.

"Adi." Kirstie told him.

"Well, you're very beautiful Adi." Kevin told
her. She smiled widely, thanking him.

Scott eyed her. Kirstie decided to rip the bandaid off, "She's my daughter."

She told them all, not making eye contact with anyone.

"Daughter?" Kirstie heard his deep voice come from the back.

Avi made his way to the front of the bus.

"Yeah, daughter.." Kirstie's throat suddenly went dry. She was terrified.

"Your voice sounds scary." Adeline said to him.

Avi looked down at her, before looking up at Kirstie. The resemblance was uncanny.

"I like your eyes, Adi." He told her.

Kirstie winced, staring at the ground.

"Thanks! Mommy says they're rare. She's only seen one person that has them other than me." She said pointing to Kirstie.

"Huh. I wonder who that is." He said, not taking his eyes off of Kirstie.

"Can I talk to you?" He asked Kirstie.

She thought for a moment, before nodding.

They walked to the back of the bus. Kirstie sat on the couch, waiting for him to say something.

He was pacing back and forth, mumbling under his breath. Finally, he stopped, looking at her.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked.

She shrugged, not saying anything.

"No. You can't just not say anything. Not about this." He said, running his hand through his hair.

"I didn't know how to tell you.." She spoke up. "I thought you were going to be mad."

"You should have talked to me. This a really big thing." He said.

Kirstie didn't know what to say. Sighing, Avi closed his eyes. "I have a daughter.."

"Yeah.." Kirstie said, staring at her feet.

"Are you going to tell her?" He asked.

"I don't know." She told him, truthfully.

"Why not?" He wondered.

"Do you know how many stories I had to make up because she didn't have a dad in her life?" She said.

"That's not my fault."

"It's not, you're right, but I don't know how to fix all of the lies I have told her over the years." Kirstie said.

She put her head in her hands. "I don't have time to worry about this, her birthday party needs to be planned." She said, getting up from the couch.

"Wait, when is her birthday?"

"Halloween night." Kirstie told him.

"Can I help?" Avi asked.

"You're still on tour, Avi." She said, trying to leave.

"We both know that we never have shows on Halloween." He said, crossing his arms.

Kirstie sighed, "Fine."

Smiling, Avi looked at her, "Really?"

She nodded, "Yeah."

"Thank you.." He told her.

She smiled, slightly, before nodding again.
"I need to get her home, it's late.."

"Wait, can I say goodbye to her?" He asked.

"Yeah, you can." She walked back to the front of the bus, to see Adeline asleep on a chair.

Avi smiled, walking over to her. Darien was watching her while the others went ahead into the hotel.

Since no one else was around, Avi kissed the girls head before walking out of the bus.

Picking her up, Kirstie told Darien goodbye before walking back to her car.

This was not how she wanted this day to go, but hopefully something good could come out of it.
