"Dad please....., Don't leave me". Lara pleaded shaking her dad who was laid on a sick bay. He looked barely recognizable with string of wires connected to him, her dad; Senator Tunde Ajayi had been diagnosed two months ago of severe diabetes that slowly affected his legs and made him bedridden to which he frequently grumbled about. She kept wondering why her dad had called a meeting in his sickbay inviting his best friend and his son as she gripped his hand.

She turned behind her to see Mr  Chike Donald, her dad's best friend and business associate shake his head. His arrogant son beside him looked like he had better things to do than to be in a hospital, She gritted her teeth in annoyance as she watched him steal glances at his wrist watch, he should leave if he wants to...

Tunde  coughed and held his daughter's hand obviously seeking her attention "I can't promise to live, I can feel death calling me".

"Tunde don't talk like that". Chike interjected.

"Omolara my dear, I want you to get married to Chris". Tunde said slowly.

Lara blinked hard, her ears ringing, she  turned to glance at the man her father had recommended, he had an expressionless face that she felt an urge to smack.

"Why??" Her mum's hoarse voice came through between sobs, wiping her eyes with her sleeves

Tunde took in a breathe "Cause He's the best thing that will ever happen to her".

Lara's face scrunched up in confusion, best thing???, She barely knew him and she only met him like thrice and now her dad's dying wish was for her to get married to him, freaking marriage not even like a one date or something. She discovered she had zoned out when she heard Chris chuckle.

"Martha,,I'll always love you even in my next world". Tunde reached for his sobbing wife who hesitantly gave him a hug. "Chike you'll be my best friend forever......". He coughed intensely which seized after he relaxed into his pillow with his eyes closed.

"Dad...Dad..., Someone call the doctor". Lara screamed.
