𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    𝑰𝑵 𝑵𝑶𝑻-𝑺𝑶-𝑭𝑨𝑰𝑹 𝑺𝑪𝑶𝑻𝑳𝑨𝑵𝑫, 𝑾𝑬 𝑳𝑨𝒀 𝑶𝑼𝑹 𝑺𝑪𝑬𝑵𝑬. However, in this tale, it is hardly a pair of lovers that feature. No tragedy at the end; no love at first sight. Feuding families may fit our version, but amorous affection is a myth to the first act.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    𝑴𝑼𝑪𝑯 𝑻𝑶 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑫𝑰𝑺𝑨𝑷𝑷𝑶𝑰𝑵𝑻𝑴𝑬𝑵𝑻 of protagonist number one, 𝑾𝒀𝑨𝑻𝑻 𝑩𝑼𝑪𝑲𝑳𝑬𝒀 ─ a hopeless romantic, waiting for a fairytale ending of her own, and yet possesses depressingly low expectations, purely because of the setting of her life story.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑻𝑨𝑮𝑶𝑵𝑰𝑺𝑻 number two, 𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑶𝑫𝑶𝑹𝑬 𝑵𝑶𝑻𝑻, is not so drawn to the romance scene, but would rather survive Wizarding School and his parents' sky-high expectations before marriage even enters the stage.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    𝑵𝑶𝑾 𝑴𝑶𝑺𝑻 can think of one reason as to why Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has never bothered caring an awful lot about the Arts and that is there is already plenty of 𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒂 going around anyway. Quidditch was the closest you were going to get when it comes to serious extracurricular academics at Hogwarts ─ anything else 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒆-related isn't exactly on the professors' priority lists.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    𝑬𝑵𝑻𝑬𝑹 𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑭𝑬𝑺𝑺𝑶𝑹 𝑭𝑳𝑰𝑻𝑾𝑰𝑪𝑲 and his timely love for the Arts, and next minute, Hogwarts hosts a full-blown play every other year. Some might say it's an array of talent. Others, a waste of time and a chip on their shoulder.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    𝑾𝒀𝑨𝑻𝑻 𝑰𝑺 𝑵𝑶𝑻 one of these complainers. In fact, Wyatt has stared in every single one of Professor Flitwick's plays since her very first year and considers herself a true artist for her brilliant portrayals of the very exciting 𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔. She holds no grudges of course. Wyatt has to admit that Hogwarts has seen some talent over the years, which is why Wyatt holds no personal offence when she sees her name on the Cast List as someone in the Chorus, or a Narrator if she's lucky.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    𝑾𝒀𝑨𝑻𝑻'𝑺 𝑵𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑩𝑬𝑬𝑵 old enough, you see. It's always the sixth and seventh years with roles like 𝑳𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒄𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉, and 𝑮𝒘𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒚𝒏 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒇𝒂𝒙, and 𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒂 from Shakespeare's 𝑨 𝑴𝒊𝒅𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕'𝒔 𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎. Which is why 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 is so very important. It's her final year at Hogwarts and her academic success is just where it should be. Any Bucket List she created at the young age of eleven starting Wizarding School is near enough complete. Except for playing the 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅 in a school play.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                   Just wait till she finds out Professor Flitwick chose 𝑹𝑶𝑴𝑬𝑶 𝑨𝑵𝑫 𝑱𝑼𝑳𝑰𝑬𝑻 for this year's piece.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                     𝑶𝑵 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑶𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑺𝑰𝑫𝑬 of the spectrum, Theodore Nott can't do much but 𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒆 Flitwick's plays, simply because the audition posters get on his nerves, and his mum always ends up making him go to the final performance. Theatre is boring, Shakespeare was a twat, and Quidditch is far more interesting, as far as the Slytherin is concerned.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    As well as being 𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊-𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒆, Theodore and his friends excel at being immature. So much so, Draco Malfoy gets amusement out of ruining others' fun. And with that, a juvenile bet is born: wouldn't it be totally hilarious if Theo auditioned for Filius' little play, just for a laugh?

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    𝑾𝑹𝑶𝑵𝑮! What wasn't quite part of the plan was Theodore actually getting cast.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    And you can guess that Wyatt Buckley is not best pleased when her co-star turns out to be an 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒍𝒆 with no consideration for the people involved and is notorious for taking the piss out of the Shakespearean language.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.                    At least she and Theodore, and 𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑱𝒖𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒕 have one thing in common: her family hates his, and she's sick of this world. It turns out that it is most certainly 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆.

                     ▊this fic takes place in an au, where the second wizarding war doesn't happen for a few years yet. originally, it starts in 1995 and ends in 1998, during harry's school years, but in this fic, only speculations of a second wizarding war go around at this point, and the war doesn't start till the late 1990s. i hope this makes sense! i didn't want to totally rule it out, because it's important for theo's story arc, but then wyatt & theo wouldn't have gotten their final year at hogwarts had i stuck to the actual timeline <3
