Jeongguk tossed the phone to his side. It landed soundlessly on the soft bed.

He bit his lip, sinking back and gathering the blankets and pillows close to him. Once he felt sure that any sound would be muffled he gave in and started crying again.

Taehyung had been very distant lately. He and Jeongguk used to spend all their time together, and now they hung out once in a blue moon. Scratch that, maybe once in a rainbow moon. Which is to say - never. 

What was worse was that Jeongguk liked the older. A bit too much. And Taehyung was always referring to them as best friends.

The boy swallowed with difficulty and got up, wiping his tears on his sleeve. He slid off his bed and stepped over the dirty clothes lying scattered on his floor. Opening the door of his room, he headed over to the laundry room on socked feet, treading very lightly and making next to no sound. 

Jeongguk entered the area, and nearly had a heart attack when he saw a larger frame standing close to Jeongguk's clothes.

It was dark and so he couldn't make out who it was. Probably one of the staff who was putting in his clothes to dry. But at one in the morning? He shook it off and waited until the person left, a bundle in their arm. 

Jeongguk then crept over to his side and snatched up a clean hoodie from the pile.

Then he ran.

Back in his room he disappeared among his sheets again, bringing the freshly laundered clothes to his nose. The scent calmed him and he fell asleep without knowing it, a few tears hanging off his long eyelashes.

Taehyung got out of his clothes and changed before he left his room to go over to Jeongguk's. He first tried the door but it was locked. Taehyung hesitated before leaning over, pressing his ear to the cold wood. 

Hearing muffled sobs, Taehyung felt worry overcome him. 

"Jeongguk?" he called out before knocking harshly. "Jeongguk, I know you're in there, open up", he said loudly. The sounds stopped abruptly and there was a cough.

On the other side of the door, Jeongguk rushed over to the bathroom and washed his face quickly, drying it hurriedly. "C-coming", he hiccupped and cursed under his breath. He opened the door, gulping when he saw Taehyung's face. 

He looked worried. Yet there was some other unreadable expressions in his face.

"Why were you crying?" Well, he sure did go straight to the point. 

"N-nothing really I was just watching a Kdrama and someone died so - yeah, you know... I'm a bit sensitive about these things," Jeongguk lied and shrugged casually. 

Taehyung pushed past the younger and entered, catching Jeongguk off guard.

His eyes raked over the place, spotting neither a device nor, thankfully, his own tear-soaked clothes Jeongguk had borrowed a long time back. "Don't lie to me Gguk, why were you crying?", he asked once more, looking sharply at the younger.

"Jeongguk please, I'm your best friend." His heart shattered yet again. Taehyung was looking so anxiously at him but he couldn't possibly tell the truth. 

"J-Just heartbreak," he said unconvincingly, shuffling his feet uncomfortably. 

"I didn't know you were dating," Taehyung blurted out, shocked. "I-I'm not", he replied. Taehyung sighed and stepped forward, wrapping the younger in a bear hug. "Tell me how I can help Gguk," he whispered and ran a hand through his hair. 

Jeongguk pushed him away and stepped back. He sat down on the bed. 'You won't understand, hyung, you call me your best friend but it hurts each time. I can't possibly ever tell you that I like you', he thought angrily. 

Taehyung choked and startled Jeongguk. "You what?" he asked hoarsely.

"Huh?", Jeongguk was confused. "You - you said", Taehyung swallowed. 

"I didn't say anything", he replied sharply, alarmed. "You said I wouldn't understand and you would never tell me that - that you -" Jeongguk collapsed backwards and buried his face in his hoodie.

"Get out," he commanded softly, wanting to die. "No Jeongguk. Tell me why you didn't want to confess", Taehyung said firmly, locking the door behind him. "Just get out, Kim Taehyung", he replied weakly. "You like Jimin and now I've messed everyth-" 

"Who said that?", Taehyung interrupted, eyes burning into Jeongguk who lifted his head.

"It's obvious -" Taehyung cut him off again, "I don't like him like that. I do, however, have feelings for someone else", he added. Jeongguk sank back. 

"Who is she?" he asked hoarsely. "It's a he." 

Jeongguk's heart fell a bit lower into the pit of desolation and darkness

"Do I know him?" Jeongguk asked sadly. 

"Yes." The younger sighed, feeling even worse. "Just tell me who, I'm tired of the questions", Jeongguk deadpanned, sitting up with an emotionless look in his eyes.

Taehyung cocked his head and darted his tongue over his lower lip nervously. He flashed a smile before walking straight towards Jeongguk. "What -", Jeongguk shifted back hastily, scowling as Taehyung caught his wrists and pushed him down. He didn't hesitate and climbed on top of him, hovering over the younger. 

He'd never been this close to Jeongguk and he was going to make the most of it. Not speaking, he observed the smaller, drinking in all the tiny perfect details and trying to memorize it all. "Hyung, what the hell are you -," he pressed. Taehyung gave in to the younger's sad eyes.

"It's a boy you know the best. It's a boy I've had a crush on for four years now. It's a boy who's currently lying under me, with his incredibly pretty eyes gazing into mine", he whispered.

Jeongguk blinked. 

"It's you, Jeongguk. It always has been. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier. I'm such a coward and because of that - you cried and... I made you feel so horrible," he said, lowering his head onto the younger's small chest.

Silence. Taehyung didn't dare lift his head but then - 

"You're joking. Don't joke about something like this", his voice trembled. 

Taehyung sighed and pursed his lips. "I'm not joking, Gguk. I really do like you. And I know I've been avoiding you. It - it has a reason. I couldn't stay near you without feeling worse. So I told Jimin and he -" 

"Jimin knows about this?!" Jeongguk cried in a shrill tone unlike his own. "Yeah. He tried to make me tell you the truth so many times. I refused. I'm sorry Jeonggukie. I really love you. A lot - and that scared me be-because I'd never felt like that before", he said in a strangled voice. 

"You're literally the most perfect thing to exist and I don't deserve you. I made you cry so much and I'm so fucking sorry, Jeongguk", he said, a tear escaping him in spite of himself. The younger blushed at the compliment. "I-I am?", he asked.

"What?", Taehyung looked up, spotting the red dusting his cheeks immediately. "Y-you said I'm-" "Perfect? Bun, you're the prettiest and best person I know! Both inside and out! You're doubting that?" Taehyung said incredulously. 

Jeongguk flushed deeper. "I - I like you too", he mumbled, face fully red now.

Taehyung smiled, relieved and fell on top of the smaller, crushing him in a hug. "T-too h-heavy - too big", he choked, gasping for breath. "That's what you're gonna be saying in some time", Taehyung smirked. Jeongguk hit him on the chest. 

"Bitch."

A comfortable silence enveloped them both. "How would you feel worse when you were with me?" Jeongguk asked. "Well, for starters, you'd always look beautiful. Rather hard to control myself with you looking like that, you know?", Taehyung answered teasingly. 

"Shut up", Jeongguk whined again. Taehyung fidgeted around and got up after a while. "What's poking me," he pulled out his own grey T-shirt from below the blanket and his eyes widened. "Uh J - Jeongguk?", he asked, speechless.

The younger vanished below sheets. Taehyung pulled out a few more of his clothes from the bed and looked under it. 

"So that's where my clothes have been going", he said in a low voice, smirking internally, determined to tease him a bit about it.

"Now now, bunny, what are my clothes doing here in your room?", he asked, lowering his tone purposely. "Well of course I guess they will be thrown off one day because of - ah, the heat in the room," he added, grinning and threw off the blankets in one pull. He pinned down Jeongguk's wrists above his head and raised an eyebrow.

Jeongguk's face was redder, if possible.

"T-The scent c-comforted me", he whimpered softly when Taehyung got on top of him again. Thrown back by the answer, the older blinked. His mind was wiped clean by the younger's innocent answer. 

Taehyung grinned even wider and swooped in, kissing his cheek and making Jeongguk flush even more. "Well now that you've admitted it, I go to the laundry room and take your clothes too sometimes", he confessed shamelessly. 

"Eh, how does it matter, I've got the real scent and the real package now, you sweet adorable pretty little human being", Taehyung grinned.

He pulled the scowling and flustered Jeongguk in and wrapped his limbs around him. 

"Hope you don't mind being the little spoon."

"Never."
