I went to my room to find a nice dress to wear, but not five minutes later, I heard Seth's voice downstairs.

"You what!"

Oh Juno. Sugarcoating doesn't have a place in her dictionary.

I left my room and stepped downstairs to find my little brother pacing around the kitchen table. "Like, what the hell, Juno? Couldn't you give us a heads-up?"

Juno didn't seem fazed. At all. She was standing in the middle of the kitchen, following my brother with her gaze. "I'm giving you a couple of hours as a heads-up."

Seth froze on the spot, crossed his arms and glared at her. "Two hours? And then what? Mr. Gomez moves in? And are you having your wedding night here? Are you going away for the honeymoon?"

Shit. The wedding night!

"I think it's wonderful news, Juno. Congratulations," Bryan stepped closer to my grandmother and gave her a hug.

"Thank you, dear." She patted him on the back. "As for my honeymoon," she turned to Seth after pulling away, "I was hoping Chef Bryan could stay over for the weekend."

What?

"We don't need a babysitter, Juno." I had to put down my foot here. My eyes narrowed as I glanced at my grandmother. She was clearly delusional. We were both adults. Almost. I was, anyway. I could take care of my brother.

Unless... she was doing her best to play matchmaker.

"I know you don't, Jessie dear, but I'd feel better knowing Bryan stayed here, just in case." She smiled innocently as I crossed my arms and glared at her. I'm not such a fool, Juno!

Bryan cleared his throat. "I wouldn't have a problem, Juno." His eyes slid to me. "If that's okay with everyone in the house."

Seth had stopped pacing. His mouth was completely open as he stared at our grandma and my boss. "Of course, you don't," he muttered under his breath but we all heard him.

"Oh my goodness, look at the time, you better go change kids. Not you Bryan, you look great." Juno gestured us to get moving before batting her eyelashes at Bryan.

I don't know who's more infatuated with him, her or me.

Seth pinched the bridge of his nose and stumped out of the room. My lips were pressed in a tight line as I glared at Juno, but I didn't want to ruin her wedding day, so I made my way to my room, too. I also had no idea wat to wear. My grandma's wedding was a special day.

As soon as I closed the door to my room, my brother's voice exploded behind me. "What the hell, Jessie? How can she do this to us!" He raised his hands, almost pulling out his hair.

"Seth, calm down."

"How the hell can I calm down! She's fucking getting married, and she didn't fucking tell us." He plopped on my bed glaring at the ceiling.

I stepped to the bed and sat beside him. "Maybe because we could over react like we're over reacting right now?" Seth groaned. I sighed. "Seth, if we're honest, if anyone deserves to be happy, it's her."

Seth's eyes cut to me. He pursed his lips. He knew I was right. "How are we going to live with that man?"

I patted him condescendingly on the shoulder. "Mr. Gomez is really nice."

He snorted. "You'll have to stop calling him Mr. Gomez."

My lips quirked up. "Yeah."

"And Juno is playing cupid with you?"

Sighing, I laid next to him. "Yeah."

Seth huffed. We stayed in silence for a few minutes before he stood up. "I better find a fucking suit in my stupid closet."

I rolled my eyes. "You can stop swearing too!"

He smiled. "Swearing is fun."

Shaking my head, I stood up. "Keep acting out like a little boy Seth. And you were complaining that we're getting a baby sitter!"

He snorted. "Whatever." He was at the door when he turned to me. "You know, Jess? You deserve to be happy too." His gaze was soft and warm as he shrugged.

"Oh my gosh, your girlfriend is making you all sappy!" I burst out laughing as he made a face and narrowed his eyes. He showed me the finger before running away from my room because he knew I wouldn't shrug it off and I'll probably tackle him to the floor.

I stared at the door, thinking about what he said. I deserve to be happy too. Sighing, I shook my head. I wish I knew how.

Not wanting to dwell more on it, I stepped to my closet hoping that there was something pretty I could use. After an extensive search, I found a black dress that belonged to my mom in a box at the attic. I remember hearing Mom saying that you can't ever go wrong with a black dress. However, I wasn't sure. Black in Juno's wedding? I wished Mom would have some other dress, but I didn't have much time nor clothes to choose from.

I took a quick shower before throwing in the dress. My hair was still damp as I pulled it up in a sort of chignon, or at least what I hoped looked like one. I also drew a black, thick line over my eyelids and used a bit more blush than usual. Red lipstick finished my look.

When I was finished, I heard voices downstairs. I figured it was Mr. Gomez and his daughter. My brows furrowed as I thought about the fact that he had a daughter and we didn't know. It made me feel bad. I probably didn't pay attention to the man in the few times he'd visited us.

Mr. Gomez was wearing a black suit with a pink tie. Probably Juno's choice. It was so sweet that he was complying, though. Next to him was a pretty brunette a few years older than me, holding the hand of a little boy, who looked incredibly cute also dressed in a suit like his grandfather.

"Hello," I greeted them as I stepped down the stairs. Seth was already down, wearing a grey suit and a white shirt. He had gelled his hair to the back. He looked good...and so grown-up. My stomach clenched. My little brother is growing up too fast.

Juno introduced me to Betty. Her son was named Charlie. He looked quite shy, but Seth promptly broke the ice by making small talk about basketball teams and such. Juno announced that the judge of peace was going to arrive in any minute now, and I couldn't help but notice how happy and excited she looked.

The ceremony was short and sweet and both the bride and groom had teary eyes at the end. Their vows were as unconventional as themselves, which was perfect. We held a toast and Juno asked Seth to give the speech. He was completely humbled by the request, and wished them happiness and a life filled with love, brownies and steaks. We all laughed about it.

During the party, my gaze kept wandering to Bryan more than once. I missed him so much. I hated the fact that I had to push him away, but I had to be true to myself as well. I loved him, yet I couldn't let him play with me.

Seeing Juno so happy made me wonder if I'd ever find my happily ever after. I kind of wanted to smack Bryan on the head for being such a jerk to me over the last few weeks. The part that worried me more was that maybe he was not really into me, maybe it had been easy for him to be apart from me, maybe I was nothing to him.

I tried not to think too much about it for Juno's sake. I concentrated on the things that wouldn't make me feel sad. Like the food. It turned out amazing. The turkey was great and the sweet potatoes were fantastic too. Right before dessert, the bell rang and Bryan got up at the same time I did. His lips tugged up at my frown, but he walked beside me to the door.

When I opened the door, my eyes trained on a beautiful cake. It was small, yet all covered in white fondant with colorful flowers on both tiers. "Thank you, Michael." Bryan grabbed the cake as the guy boobed his head. They talked for a moment as I stared at the cake. "I ordered it when you were changing." Bryan explained when the guy left to his car. "There can't be a wedding without a wedding cake."

I didn't pay much attention at the way my heart warmed at his gesture. Or at least, I tried not to. "It's lovely, thank you."

Bryan's gaze was deep as he stared at me. "There's no need to thank me, Jessie." He pursed his lips for a moment. "And I don't have to stay here if you don't want me to."

My heart fluttered. He looked so shy, nervous even. "You don't have to." I bit my lip while my stomach flipped "but I'd love to have you around."

His eyes lit up as he smiled. "Good. Because I love to be around, too." And there went my whole resolution to stay away from him.

Maybe Juno was right. Bryan was an amazing guy. I couldn't push him away without finding out it he cared about me.

I'm not home, so the internet is a bit slow, no song or pic right now. But yay! new chapter and new cover! Thank you krazydiamond !! Loved it!
