"What are you even doing?"

Allexis sits up to find Draal poking his head out of the kitchen door.

"Admiring the sky, it's actually quite clear tonight." She replies before laying back down on the grass. "Jim and I used to do this when we were younger, back when our parents were together and even after when he'd try to drag me out of the house to take a break from homework."

Draal steps out from the door and carefully shuts it behind him before walking into the yard and seating himself down next to her. The sky did seem quite clear that night, which was nice.

"If the stars were more visible we'd actually try making our own constellations, like The Glove, The Belching Dragon, and my personal favorite: The Tangled Snake." Allexis says pointing at random parts of the sky. "Even Toby would join in on it."

“Sounds like fun.” Draal laughs as Allexis leans against him and points up to another part of the sky.

“Sometimes we used to try and see if we could spot shooting stars too to make wishes on them.”

“What exactly is a shooting star?”

“They’re just meteors, orcosmic specks of dust burning up as they enter Earth's atmosphere at very high speed. The friction between these tiny rocks and the air molecules creates lots of heat that the air dissipates by converting it into light.” Allexis explains before looking up at Draal to see him wearing a very confused face. “Okay let me dumb it down a bit: big rocks in the sky that fly past the planet catch on fire as they fly past us, from here we just see it as a streak of light and for some reason we assume it’s a moving star. Does that help?”

“Ah, now that makes more sense.” The troll laughs before turning his attention to the sky. “Oh I think I see one up there, very colorful.”

“Draal, that's an airplane, shooting stars don’t twinkle red and green.”

“Pretty sure it’s a shooting star.”

“It’s not!”

“I’m still making a wish.”

Allexis gives a laugh. “Okay big guy, make your wish.”

Draal was silent for what seemed like forever, so Allexis decided to try and lean herself more comfortable against him. She felt his arm carefully drape over her, gently holding her against him.

"So, what did you wish for?"

"Am I allowed to tell?"

"Apparently the rules on wish making say you aren't allowed to tell anyone your wish, otherwise it won't come true."

Draal chuckles. "Well then I must torment you with curiosity on whatever the wish is."

"Oh come on, I'm not that curious." Allexis scoffs. "What, did you wish to be human for a day so we can go on a date during the day?"

Draal let's out an amused snort. "You wish. You'll just have to keep guessing for the next few days until this wish comes true. Are you going to make one?"

Allexis looks up at the sky, seeing a shooting star zip past them and smiles. Her wish...man she had so much to wish for honestly, she didn't know where to start. Maybe for this evil troll business they were dealing with to blow over? For her to graduate with better grades and get her dream job of being a history teacher? Or...no. Allexis looks up at Draal, who had his eyes in the sky and smiles to herself. Maybe she could wish for at least a better relationship with this big blue dork who lived in her family's basement and managed to get along and bond with over many of her interests. Maybe...just maybe, a relationship she could count on and won't expect so much heartbreak from like her mother. That'd be nice.
