SIN

There were close to none personal items in my bedroom apart from my clothes and the stationary gotten for school. My school bag was big enough for the stationary and a few clothes but that was about it. I still had some dresses, shirts, shoes, pants and underwear that needed to be packed but I had no bags to us. I'd emptied the closet by folding my clothes neatly and placing it down on the bed.

Now I just needed to find bags to pack them in.

I hesitated a few seconds before I walked out of my room and headed towards Draven and Lauren's bedroom. The door was open but the bedroom was empty. Searching the other rooms had the same results. In the ended I made my way downstairs and headed into the kitchen.

Beth was standing at the counter, searching through her purse. We hadn't exactly talked since she caught Tyrone and I kissing. She was giving me the cold shoulder and I hated it. I wanted the friendly Beth back.

She glanced up and frowned at me. "I thought you went with them."

"Went with them?"

"To the water park. Lauren said you were all going and I thought that it had included you."

The water park? Nobody had told me about it and I hadn't heard any of the kids talking about it. How could they go out when Draven had promised me that he would help me move out? He had said that he would drive me so he could see where I was going to live.

A scoff fell from my lips. It was all Lauren's doing, of that I was sure.

"Do you need anything?" Beth asked. "Your mother gave me the day off."

"Did she say when they would be home?"

"Late tonight."

"I don't need anything," I told her softly. "Enjoy your day off."

Beth gave me a nod, picked up her bag and walked out of the back door without another glance in my direction.

My shoulders sagged the moment she was gone. I was alone in the big house that was supposed to be my home according to Draven. It could never be a home—especially not with that woman living in it.

Swallowing, I pulled the piece of paper out of my pocket and stared down at the number scribbled on the back of it. I glanced around the kitchen before I made my way over to Draven's office. Taking a seat behind his desk, I reached for the phone.

It took a few minutes but I managed to dial the number.

"Hello?"

My eyes fluttered closed as his voice washed over me. "H-hi."

"Sunshine," David greeted. "Are you okay?"

"Yes. I was wondering if maybe you could give me a ride to the apartment. Everything's already packed and it's not much. There's only some clothes and my school stuff so—"

"I would love to help you move into your new apartment," he interrupted. "I'll be there in ten minutes."

"Thank you."

"See you soon, sunshine."

The phone disconnected before I could reply. With a smile on my face, I hurried up to my bedroom. I stared at the clothes on the bed for a moment as I tried to figure out how I was going to pack my clothes. In the end the only thing I could some up with was to use my bed sheets as a make shift bag.

I couldn't remember exactly where I asked him to drop me the last time so I only walked a few houses down and lowered my load to the sidewalk to take a seat.

David arrived before the ten minutes were up. I instantly recognized his car when he pulled into the street. I got up and waited for the car to stop at the curb. David killed the engine and got out. Our eyes locked as he made his way around the front of the car towards me. His lips tilted up into a small smile but he didn't reach out to touch me.

"When you said it wasn't much, I didn't expect it to be so little," he muttered as he took everything in.

"I haven't lived here long," I told him.

Shaking his head, David loaded my stuff into the back of his car and then held the door open for me. I thanked him as I climbed in and watched as he walked around the front of the car to get in.

Just as he turned the car around, a familiar truck drove past us. My heart dropped to my stomach but thankfully Tyrone didn't stop. He either didn't see me or he wasn't so worried about it. But I breathed a little easier once we entered town.

Guilt flooded me which was beyond stupid. I wasn't doing anything wrong. They wanted nothing to do with me so I was making a life for myself so I could get as far away from them as possible.

You'll still see him at school.

I knew that there was no way for me to get out of my extra classes with him unless I ask Draven once again to find me someone else to help me with my school work. On one side I still wanted Tyrone to help me because it was the only time I'd be able to see him and on the other side I wanted to be as far away from him as possible.

"You don't look very excited to be moving out."

My eyes darted over to David. "I am," I told him. "I'm just thinking about school."

"Where is school?"

I told him the name of the school and explained the compromise Draven made with me in order to move out. By the time I was done we had reached the apartment building.

David carried the clothes while I carried my school bag up to my apartment. He unlocked the door and then gestured for me to enter first. I froze when my eyes locked onto the furniture. The place was no longer empty—it had been fully furnished. From couches, a coffee table, a rug, a TV, curtains and even paintings on the wall. I glanced towards the kitchen and found some new stuff there too. Excitement hit me hard. Dropping the bag, I ran down the hall into the master bedroom.

My mouth dropped and my steps faltered. The floor was covered in a thick, fluffy grey carpet. A huge bed was in the middle of the room with bedside tables on either side that held pink lamps. The bedding matched the carpet and curtains.

"What do you think?" David asked from behind me.

Instead of answering him, I threw myself at him. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I hiked my legs up his thighs to wrap around his hips. Chuckling, he hooked and arm under my ass and walked over to the bed where he placed my clothes down.

"The guest bedroom is furnished too and the kitchen fully stocked. You're welcome to—"

I cut his words off with a kiss. Words wouldn't be able to explain the gratefulness I felt. So I showed him by pouring everything I felt into the kiss. His lips parted beneath the pressure of mine and his tongue was waiting to greet mine. But he pulled away all too soon for my liking.

"You have half an hour to get settled but then we have to leave because you have a doctor's appointment."

I tensed and squirmed to get out of his arms but David held on. He hesitated a moment before he took a seat on the edge of the bed. When his eyes narrowed, I instantly stilled.

"W-why?" I asked him.

"You need to get some test done before you start working. It's to make sure that you don't have any STD's or anything." He paused. "It's to keep both of us protected."

"Will you go with me?"

David sighed. "I can't, sunshine. I have an important meeting. Do you want someone to go with you?"

I instantly nodded. I wanted him to go with me but since he couldn't then I supposed that whoever he got to take me was better than going alone. Doctor's scared me but I wasn't going to admit it to him.

Wrapping my arms around his neck again, I pressed my face to his neck and squeezed my eyes closed. Maybe working for David wasn't such a good idea after all.
