The Shadow that Danced

My eyes opened slowly. As I tried to adjust my vision, a tall figure stood in front of me. My sight was too blurry to tell if they were male or female. My body felt weak and I could barely move a muscle, except for my head. The figure started spraying me with water that smelled horrible. It dripped onto my bottom lip and I felt the urge to puke. The taste was salty and spoiled at the same time.

"Good, you're awake. I've prepared something special for you while you were sleeping. Let me just move to the side. Now you can see my creation. Perhaps you'd like me to put a blindfold on you?"

I wish he had put a blindfold on me. I couldn't scream. No, I was too terrified to scream. In front of me was a shadow. The shadow had fingers attached to it. It had feet. It had a nose. It had hair attached to it. It had hair attached to it! It had one eye, eyebrow, and an upper lip. It had a knee cap; only one on the right leg.

"Flin? Dance!" The stranger said. He was a tall man, about 7 feet tall. Skinny, and he only wore a large T-shirt that covered up to his knees. He was either very tan in color or just plain dirty. I couldn't tell, he had stains and dirt and mud and just whatever all over him. The floor was damp and the air was just putrid. I forgot to mention...my name was Flin, but he wasn't talking to me when he said dance.

The shadow began to struggle with lifting its hands. The right hand lifted with the fingers that were somehow attached to it. One hand in the air over its head, trembling. The other hand in front of itself. It lifted one foot and wiggled it's toes. It's one lip curled into a disturbing smile and the eye looked at me. The thing started dancing and doing some kind of weird step. It stepped onto the ground with one foot then lifted the other. The hands were just everywhere; in front of him, they went over his head, they went to the sides of its body. The hair kinda slowly bounced around as it danced.

Wait...

The hair. The hair! It...looked just like my hair. I quickly brought my hands up to my head but when I couldn't feel my fingers, I knew. Something was very wrong. I didn't have to look because I already knew.

What had been my fingers was now nothing but the palm of my hand. My feet were gone. I tried...I tried to wiggle my nose. Nothing moved. And no wonder I couldn't see so well. I was missing an eye. I stuck my tongue over my upper lip and tasted the dry blood and flesh.

"It's almost complete, Flin." He said looking at me.

The stranger laughed and the shadow started hoping around him as I screamed.
