Big Bang

Birds shrieked above her as she dragged the wreck from the sea.

Flames had stripped most of the markings away; but she could still make out some of the symbols, and she grimaced.

The invaders were sure that they'd found a soft target on a backwater planet where they could make a new beginning. Instead, humanity was on the brink of a nuclear war, armed to the teeth, looking for an excuse for a fight.

There was still something living on this one. It croaked hate at her.

'How's this for a big bang?' she asked.

Then she shot it.
