Cantata for the Uplifted

We awoke, disconnected, on cold Earth,

condemned by Man to our difficult birth.

For His final exit was wrought with fire;

He left us in his wake as He expired.

Reptiles, mammals and land beings set free

united with denizens of the sea

to cradle our Earth, no matter the cost

and try our best to retain what was lost.

But still lingered the spirit of the chase;

the hunt for knowledge and to find our place:

Our inheritance lacked Man's clear wisdom:

the search for truth became our next mission.

So we reach out into the cosmos wide,

exploring it all with one question: "Why?"
