So tonight marks the end of day one of the Battle for Jefferson reenactment.

There wasn't a whole lot of events going on today, as many regiments were still setting up their encampments, but I still got to meet a bunch of awesome people from all over the country!

Here's a few pics:

These are a few of the encampments. These camps were EVERYWHERE throughout the town. The reenactors will actually sleep in them throughout the weekend. Sounds pretty fun to me!

After walkin' around for a bit, I stopped in for a drink at the Jefferson General store. Which looks like Cracker Barrel x1000. This is my favorite store of all time, hands down.
It's got pretty much anything, like Clothes, souvenirs, books, tools, locally sourced jams and preserves, an ice cream/burger bar, organic soaps made from honeycomb, and MUCH more. All of that wrapped up in a small-town and 1950s style setting.

Next, I stopped and helped the Jefferson Grays set up their Candlelight Memorial  Service for all of the soldiers that had fallen during
the Civil War. And it wasn't just Southern graves we marked, there were several Northern graves in the cemetery from states like Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Some of the markers may be hard to see, some were behind other graves or bushes. I tried to get some good angles though.

Lastly, there was a dance held in the town square. Some folks came dressed in some classy looking 19th century attire and a few in their blue and gray uniforms. They also had a very good string band playing some classic songs from the 1860s and before. It was a lot of fun.

And that does it for day one.
Tomorrow is the parade and actual battle.

Lemme know if you want me to take some videos of it as well, cause sometimes pictures just can't capture the moment properly, ya know.
