On my way back home, I stopped by Stone Mountain Park in Georgia!

For those who are unfamiliar with Stone Mountain, allow me to give you a brief run-down.

Stone Mountain itself is scientifically considered a "quartz monzonite dome monadnock". (Try saying that three times fast XD.) In laymen's terms, it's a giant dome-shaped chunk of granite sticking out of the ground. Seriously, this thing has an elevation of 1,686 feet.

Now, some of you may be saying, "Tex, you know good and well I'm not going to remember any of that jibber-jabber. Just tell me who those fellows carved in there are."

Okay geez, I'm getting there.

From left to right the are:

President Jefferson Davis

General Robert E. Lee

General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson

Frankly, I would have rather seen General Beauregard up there instead of Jeff Davis, but it is what it is.

In addition to the bas-relief, they have a lot of neat historical stuff. Like a museum and some facts about the Southern states during the Civil War. Unfortunately however, I was just at the park briefly because I was trying to get out of Atlanta before the evening traffic rush.

But, I did manage to find all of the state memorials! As I was taking pictures of all of these, it reminded me of an old southern folk song called "The Bonnie Blue Flag," a song about the states that seceded from the Union. I'm such a history dork XD.
Anyway, here are all of the states in the order of the song, because I'm awesome.

If you're wondering why those two weren't in the song, it's because they never officially left the Union, but had units that fought on both sides.
