I remember it like it was yesterday, standing in the cold rain as time flew by me, the laughter, the echoes, the memories the tears. That's what child hood is meant to be about right? But when you're fighting loneliness everything changes.

My name is Mirai Toga 14 years of age I go to Haramasi high school in central Tokyo, my mom died when I was 5 and my dad has drinking problems, so we don't see each other much.So I live alone with no one to take care of me, I'm not the popular type either so it's not like I have friends to support me or anything. I've always been that girl that Doesn't talk much and never puts her hand up, that girl at the back of the classroom with the glasses, I guess that's all I'll ever be.

Mirai woke up feeling in more of a slump than usual, life was a burden, a struggle that she had to overcome, and those eight hours of school weren't any better. She ate breakfast,brushed her teeth and got ready. As she looked outside she realised it was raining, but she didn't mind, rain was the one thing she could enjoy, the one thing that she couldn't have taken away from her, the rain was perfect for Those quiet moments she needed to think. She rushed out the door feeling the tiny droplets of rain cascade down her face.

As Mirai arrived at school she hesitated "it's not like anyone will notice my absence", she thought "I'm better of at home" but today was the day she sat her exams this was the moment of all moments, the triumph of all triumphs, she couldn't fail, she wouldn't let that happen. So with great discomfort she stepped inside the school gates.

"Baby steps" she whispered, "baby steps". As she arrived at her form door she gritted her teeth, she didn't want any trouble, she just wanted to go unnoticed, sometimes she wished she had a weapon to summon at her beck and call, so she could defend herself from all the bad in the world, so she could be the one with the voice, so she could be the hero.
