Jeon Minji's POV

I awoke to the sound of the consistent beep of a monitor, and slowly opened my eyes. The bright light near enough blinded me to begin with, but as my eyes adjusted I realised I was in a hospital bed. Everywhere hurt. I lifted my hand, only to see my arm wrapped in pristine white bandages.

Suddenly someone walked in, and I assumed she was the doctor.
"Hello Minji, how are you feeling?" She asked nicely.
"It hurts..." I mumbled.
"Your skin will hurt, you've burnt it." She gave me a pitying look.

"Burnt?" I asked.
"Yes, you were found in a burning building." She told me. "You probably won't remember since you were already passed out when you were found."
"H-how long has it been since then?" I asked.

"About two weeks. You've been on a sedative that helps you sleep while your body repairs itself." She told me. "You've been drifting in and out of sleep for at least a week now, but this is the first time you've properly woken up."

"So, how bad are the burns?" I asked.
"You have what's known as second-degree burns." The doctor explained. "So both the epidermis and the dermis layers of your skin are damaged."
"Is that like the first two layers or something?" I asked. I wish I'd revised.
"Yeah, something like that." She mumbled.

"Luckily for you," she continued. "Most of the burns you have are 'superficial partial thickness burns' and will take around another week to heal, without leaving scars. However, the burns on your arms are 'deep partial thickness burns' and will take longer to heal, and they'll leave a scar."

"Is that why they're bandaged?" I asked, and she nodded. Suddenly, someone else walked through the door, a male, and he began speaking to the lady quietly. He held a piece of paper in his hand and showed it to the lady, who only looked shocked.

"Is that even possible?" She asked.
"It seems so." The man replied. And then he left, leaving me with the lady.
"Minji," she sighed. "There's something else I need to tell you..."
