Sans put in a new movie for his pups and gave them something to snack on before stepping outside with Asgore. "i don't regret leaving. they need me." Asgore looked back at Sans house. "I don't doubt that. They are cute, your children." Sans nodded slowly. "... they'd been through a lot lately. i hope you're not here to make things worse on us." Asgore knew exactly what Sans was talking about. "Look, Sans. We were all in a bad place, and many good lives were lost- I was trying to think of what was best for the people." Sans didn't look at Asgore as he crossed his arms. "i had just lost everything. that spot you put me in? that only made it worse for me. if it weren't for them, i'd be dead too." Sans stated. "i'm not here to be your hero, i'm here to keep my family safe." He looked at Asgore with a serious expression, borderline warning. Asgore sighed. "I didn't come to ask again. I know you well enough to know that even if I were to order you, you wouldn't listen... I came to welcome you back as a citizen."

It wasn't really what Sans was expecting, but fluffy buns wasn't wrong. Sans didn't care about authority. He would do everything in his power to keep his family safe from everything. That included the King. "well... thank you. it's kinda... nice. to be back."
"And my deepest condolences about your brother... what did you do with his things? Are your children making use of any of it?" Sans closed his sockets and shoved his hands in his pockets so Asgore wouldn't see them shaking. "his things are safe and sound." That was all Sans told Asgore before he opened his sockets and looked back to his house. "i should check on my trio though. they can get in a lot of trouble in the ten minutes we talked." Sans took a shortcut inside. The pups looked up from their movie. ("What'd he want to talk about?") Artemis asked. "just welcoming us home, missy. how's the movie?"
"The dog is learning how to be a dog by a cat. Is that what you are doing too? Teaching us to be dogs?" Sirius questioned. "trying, sir, i'm trying." He joined his litter on the couch, all of them fought for a spot in his lap.

Sans woke up slowly to being shaken. It was weird, not waking up to the nightmares that tended to plague his mind. In fact, he hadn't dreamed at all. It was nice, blissful. "'m up, rion, 'm up..." Sans grumbled. The one eyed pup wagged his tail. "Good morning!" Sans blinked in confusion. Morning? "Mr. Grillby stopped by yesterday and watched us for you while you were asleep. Fed us and put us to bed and everything!"
"He said he was gonna be back today." Sirius reported. "i... i slept through the day..? oh da- i'm so sorry kids-" Artemis hugged Sans. ("Grillby said you really needed the rest and always had trouble sleeping.") She giggled. ("He said he was surprised you lasted this long without that long of a nap.") Sans sweatdropped. "wow, jeez, thanks pal..." He muttered to himself before standing and stretching. "let's say we get some breakfast, eh?" They all went running for the kitchen. He watched the boys closely. They didn't seem to be affected by sleep deprivation... "how long did grillby really stay...?" Sans would have to ask when Grillby stopped by.
