Adam stands and yells, throwing his sword to the ground. The demons are all sobbing. Nobody says anything, too shocked, dazed, or crippled by sorrow to speak.

"We need to get out of here," Notch says finally. "Angels, get the demons to our castle. I'll deal with Herobrine's body."

"What about Adam? He's in no position to fly," Ty points out.

"No, it's fine. I can take her home," Adam whispers, his voice choked with tears. As he's about to pick her up, his eyes widen.

"Wha- what's going on with her wings?"

They all look at Julie's wings. Some of the feathers in her once pitch black wings have turned white. The darkness around her has faded substantially until she's hardly emanating any colour at all.

"She died for her siblings and she died for you, Adam. She died for love, earning her an angelic position in heaven. I've only seen this once before, because it isn't often that a demon dies for someone they love," Notch says quietly. Everyone looks at him.

"When did you see it?" Mitch asks softly.

"My mother. She died for my brother and I when we were young children. Her wings looked like that," the king says. His eyes are brimmed with tears, which none of the angels or demons had ever seen before.

"Where is your brother now?" Jerome asks.

Notch falls silent. After a moment, he speaks again.

"He lies atop a broken throne."

With that, Notch picks up Herobrine's body and disappears.
