This is the only costume George Lucas fully designed for the saga. For Anakin and Padmé's first kiss, George wanted Padmé wearing a dress that looked like it would fall off if she sneezed. Apparently, when the cast and crew first saw Natalie Portman in the dress, jaws dropped.
