Robert squatted down in old ruins. They lay all around him, some a rusted red, some transparent or a slick black trail. But one thing was common in them all. And that was green. Green covered it like a thick warm blanket. His green eyes fit in with the grass and trees, a deep colour, old but playful, as if they had been seeing for a million years. They dug into your soul and pulled out your secrets so easily like a rod pulled fish out of a lake. Well, that was what Adriana had said, before she had died anyway. Robert and Adriana had been as close and as different as the sun and moon. She still left a mark on him, and he remembered every single detail of her. The auburn hair crashing down in waves, seeming to rise and fall like dawn, but moving like a river did. Her large brown eyes you could get lost in, soft and round, but also harsh and cold as frostbitten Winter nights, where snows rained down endlessly, until everything that is or has ever been couldn't move, stuck knee-deep in everything cold and desperate. Adriana's face was diamond shaped, sharp as the spears she killed with. Skin pale and white, she was truly beautiful. And when she disappeared in the middle of the night, Robert wouldn't stop searching, until a year later, when Robert had presumed her dead, consumed by one of the monsters outside. Ever since then Robert delved in ruins, hoping to survive on his finds and few food. He had made his home beside a large white building, still standing quite tall despite the thousand years of dying. Though there was one room he avoided at all costs. There was a room that held a dead body of a young girl, hair strewn all around it. The first time he saw that body, he was terrified, in shock and frozen. It was then that he realised the truth, he would end up like that. Mayhap sooner than thought, and if that girl was what he thought she was, he wouldn't survive the next night in the ruin.
