"Crystal!" My sister, Reah, called. "Wake up!"

I groaned. "But I don't wanna."

I opened my eyes a bit. I saw Reah with bags under her eyes. "Neither do I," She said. "But —"

"REAH! CRYSTAL! COME DOWN HERE!" Our mom interrupted her. "KIMMI AND JONA ARE WAITING FOR YOU!"

The moment I heard "Kimmi and Jona," I jumped out of bed. I rushed to get ready, showering myself and brushing my fur. I was running down the stairs not long later.

As promised, Kimmi and Jona stood there, in the doorway. I smiled.

Kimmi smiled too. "Hi!"

"What's up?" Jona asked.

"Blue." I answered.

He frowned. "Blue?"

"The sky is blue." I explained.

We all laughed at how ridiculous I was. Every kindergartener could tell you the sky was yellow — oh, I mean blue!

Kimmi said, "You ready, Crystal?"

I immediately responded. "You know it, Kim."

Our mother, a vaporeon, escorted us to the town gate, where our whole town stood, ready to send us out into the endless green of the forest.

You want a explanation for the send-off?

Too bad.

Just kidding. Children of the village would go on a quest — they ranged from getting the type of food that could save the village to defeating mythicals and legendaries! We were on one of those quests — no purpose, but if you find a threat, take it down and come home or continue. You didn't know the difference between staying on the quest and death.

That was a horrible thing to think about, I told myself. Just keep going.

Soon, we were in front of the gates.

Jona smiled. "Well, it's time."

Reah sighed longingly. "Our first quest."

"A new beginning." Kimmi said.

"New territory, new roads, new allies, but new enemies." I summed up.

"Let's do this!" We said together. And we ran out of the gates, joking and laughing, letting the cheers of our names fade behind us, not knowing of the twists and turns in the path ahead of us.

And no not literally. I meant — you know what? You know what I meant.
