As soon as she displaces it from its resting place and uses it to gain immense vigour the land cracks beneath revealing a plethora of monstrous creatures freed from their prison. Dr. Digvijay identifies them as Rakshasas, demonic spirits of Brahmins who were cursed for their lust after forbidden knowledge and power developing a special taste for human flesh. The immortal guardians of Shamballa reveals that these creatures were prophesized to bring forth the apocalypse if ever let loose in the world and the Kalachakra was the only thing keeping them bound in their prison. Alessandra drunk with power fight off a few but fails as they prove to be too powerful. Realizing no other way to stop the apocalypse, Jessica and Dr. Digvijay tricks Marcus to distract him and his hired thugs while the guardians try to hold the demons at bay. Alessandra notices that although she possesses supreme power, she needs to absorb more and more chi from the Kalachakra in order to defeat the Rakshasas ... an unending loop. Kurt musters up courage to defeat Marcus and convinces Alessandra to restore the Kalachakra, to which she agrees much to her chagrin and seals the gateway to Shamballa sacrificing herself by merging with the relic. The trio narrowly escapes the ordeal as the city collapses and its location sealed forever by the guardian's spirits.
