The lodge

The image of lady in her bloodied gown never left my mind. It was constantly there, somewhere in my head I knew that it all happened but then why did it feel like it didn't.

After sometime of me waking up, it started pouring heavily, like a thunderstorm was to come. Everything felt so so traumatic, or maybe it was just me.

That incident shook me bad i guess. Due to the heavy rainfall we had to stop at a lodge, we can not go further.

Dad though had said he never went down this road but his knowledge of all the places so well made me feel otherwise. He was driving as he knew every niche of the area but if he had never come here then he wouldn't know his way around too.

He stopped at a lodge. Much bigger for a lodge, I would say. It was made of some tough bricks and gave a homy feeling but still there was something off about it. Or maybe i was just thinking too much. Staci woke up, as dad shut down the engine, and she ran as soon as she saw the rain.  Surely she was a sweetheart and cutiepie and not a monster or whatever that creature was.

I left the car and helped dad and mom in taking the luggage into the lodge.
The interior was rather exquisite with many antique portraits and vases. It was simple and beautiful. But it's serenity didn't feel real to me.

We walked down the flight of stairs to our room, a family suite to be precise and as I said I never knew lodges had a family suite.

As we entered the room, Staci ran and started jumping on the bed, smiling widely. I smiled at her as I kept my things next to our bed as mom and dad took the other. The room was similar to the lodge in many aspects specially the portraits.

There were an enormous number of portraits on the walls. I had asked the manager about them, he said they were hung on the walls to pay tribute to these heroes.  I never asked them why were they even considered heroes.

As I wanted to explore this place a bit and wanted to know its history, I left the room and started climbing u the flight of stairs. I wanted to know more, I thought maybe, just maybe, then I will get the answers to my never ending questions.
