"Where the hell have you been?"

Greer was walking in the Slytherin Common Room when her twin brother asked the question. Plopping down on the couch across from Adam, she huffed a sigh. "Why do you care?"

"Because you don't want to get detention so early in the year," he replied.

Greer let out a scoff. "Adam wouldn't give me detention for being out past curfew." A smirk was plastered on her face as she turned to look at him. "Would you?"

Adam lifted his eyes to face her. "I just might if I actually catch you."

"Or you can find other ways to punish me." Greer raised her eyebrows, letting her flirtatious energy fill up between them. "A steamy snog in one of the empty classrooms sounds lovely, doesn't it?"

"Oh, gross!" Gavin said in disgust. "I'd rather not hear about that, thanks."

"Then leave and you won't have to hear it," she retorted.

"Speaking of leaving, I need to do just that." Adam stood up from his chair, adjusting his badge before making his way out of the common room.

The sound of footsteps approached him, and he didn't have to turn around to know who it was. "Why in a rush? Not happy to see me?" Greer questioned.

"I have to go meet up with the Prefects and Head Girl so we can start patrol," he told her.

She rolled her eyes in response. "You can spare a few more minutes, I'm sure."

"No, I really can't," he said in an almost snappy tone, opening the portrait to head out.

Of course, Greer wasn't one to give up. "Look, I know you're still upset with me from this morning--"

"Greer, I'm not having this discussion right now," he cut her off, still walking.

"Oh, but you have time to rant about it to Rosie?"

Adam stopped in his tracks, already getting annoyed at Greer's jealousy. "It was during lunch today, so yes, I had time."

"Still, I don't know why you'd go to her about it when it's none of her business." She folded her arms over her chest.

He huffed a sigh. "Rosie is my friend, too, you know."

"So why did she come to me about being a Death Eater, then?"

Adam thought his heart was going to stop. Part of him was shocked to hear those words come out of his girlfriend's mouth, but he also knew how much Rosie seemed curious about this for a while. He was holding out for her to lose interest, but it seemed as if her curiosity only got worse as You-Know-Who's return became more relevant in every conversation in the Wizarding world.

"What did you tell her?" he asked.

Greer merely shrugged her shoulders. "Oh, well, I thought you didn't have the time..."

"Walk with me, then, since you're so keen on following me, anyway," he retorted.

"I just can't get enough of you, even when you're mad at me," she said. "It kind of makes you more hot, actually."

"What, when we're not on good terms?"

"Oh, come on. Just admit it makes you want me more when you're pissed off at me. You and I know each other and how these arguments end."

Without responding, Adam led Greer to the corridors, where it was only the two of them for now. It gave them a short amount of time to talk before anyone else could intrude on their conversation. Although to Adam, whether or not someone interrupted them, he was certain that whatever they spoke about would not accomplish anything. Like always, it was wishful thinking for Adam, nothing more.

"We can still talk it out in an empty classroom," she suggested, swaying side to side.

"We're here to talk about Rosie," he reminded Greer. "Now, what did you tell her?"

Greer exhaled loudly and leaned against the wall. "She asked me about being a Death Eater and I was honest with her. It's like you said before, she's too fragile for this lifestyle."

"And do you think she listened to what you said?"

"I guess we'll find out sooner or later."

"That's not very convincing, Greer."

"Look, just give it some time and she'll eventually get over this fantasy of hers. You're worrying too much about it."

"I have a right to worry about our friend," he retorted.

"Well, once Rosie moves on to something else, then we can let it go. Trust me, it won't take long when she realizes that she is not meant to be a part of all of that." Greer paused, walking towards Adam. "If she does start getting curious again, then I'll handle it, okay?"

Adam looked at her for a moment before reluctantly nodding his head. "Okay."

Greer nodded her head back and let out a sigh. "Now, are you sure you don't want to steal a quick snogging session?" she questioned.

That was Adam's cue to spin around on his heel. "Goodnight, Greer."

"I'll get one out of you!" she called out, followed by a giggle.

As Adam kept walking, he knew that she would go back and wait for him in his dorm, just like she always did. Greer had that effect over him, with her lingering words that echoed in his brain and a touch that gave him chills. It was relaxing, exciting, and enticing.

He cursed to himself over the thought that no matter how tense things got between them, it really did cause him to crave her even more, and he was unsure if that was a good or bad thing.

*******

The sun crept up on Rosie the next morning as it shined right in her face. She groaned as she sat up, wondering why she wanted a bed by the window. With her eyes closed, she went back to her conversation with Greer last night, and the regret crept up on her.

Merlin, she felt so stupid for even asking Greer about it, especially when Greer made the wrong assumption and Rosie went along with it to avoid any suspicion as to what she was actually up to. She began to not want to head down to the Great Hall this morning, knowing how embarrassed she felt after last night. Of course, her friend was right about all of it. That was something she couldn't deny.

Greer's words continued to sink into Rosie's brain like ink on parchment. But the ink would eventually fade over a period of time where it was no longer visible. Maybe that was Greer's intention, to steer Rosie away from the idea of being a Death Eater altogether. The thought made her stomach turn, wondering if Greer knew what Rosie was up to this entire time.

Once Rosie finished getting ready, she made her way downstairs and out through the portrait, already worried about encountering her friends in the Great Hall. She did her best to not think about it, replacing her thoughts with food. When she arrived in the Great Hall, none of her friends were sitting with the other Slytherins, which meant she had some time before she had to face them.

When Rosie took a seat with no one else around, the first thing she did was grab some fruit and toast on her plate. She began to eat, letting the sound of other students that were coming in chatting before breakfast was over. For a moment, she felt somewhat relaxed as she filled her stomach with food.

"Morning, Rosie!" Neville cheerfully greeted the girl, sitting in the empty spot next to her.

"Morning, Neville," she replied back, not looking up at him.

"You alright?" he asked, sounding concerned.

"I'm fine," she lied.

"Are you sure? I know it's early in the morning, but—"

"Neville, I'm fine," she repeated, feeling herself get irritated.

"Rosie—"

"Bloody hell, I said, I'm fine!" she snapped, raising her voice.

Rosie's outburst caused the Great Hall to go silent in a matter of seconds, which was how long it took for her face to go red. Embarrassed and frustrated, she gathered her things and hurriedly rushed out of the hall. When she made it out, the sight of Adam holding hands and smiling with Greer caused her to freeze in place. When the couple locked eyes with Rosie, their smiles slowly faded. With her mouth slightly open, she spun on her heel and kept her head down, sprinting in the opposite direction.

It was typical for the two of them to make up so quickly. After all, neither of them could stand being mad at each other.

Rosie was beginning to weave around students, trying to get to her first class of the day. She almost made it when she heard someone call her name.

"Rosie!" Adam shouted not too far behind her.

She finally came to a stop and got out of the crowd, waiting for Adam. He was panting by the time he was standing in front of her.

Well, here it goes. "Hi," was all that could come out of her mouth.

"Hi," he repeated back to her. "Can we talk?"

"About what?" she asked, acting clueless.

"Your conversation with Greer last night."

"Oh," she said. "I see your conversation with her last night went well." Unlike mine, she thought.

Adam sighed, leaning against the wall. "Look, what you two talked about regarding--"

"I know, it was dumb," Rosie cut him off. "I shouldn't have even asked about it in the first place. I was stupid for even some silly idea like that." She felt her face getting hot from her confession.

"You have no idea how complicated it all is, Rosie," he told her. "There's a lot more to it than you think."

When Rosie realized what he was referring to, she nodded her head. "Uh, yeah, Greer told me it wasn't easy," she informed him.

"She's right, and you don't need to be roped into it," he said. "You're a good person, Rosie. You really are. Why you want to be like us is beyond me, but it's something you don't need to get into."

Rosie was starting to feel more guilt rising in her. Hearing this from Greer felt like motivation to strive for what she was doing, but hearing it from Adam caused that spur of inspiration to leave her body and stop trying to get more involved with what they knew about You-Know-Who's return.

She nodded her head sheepishly. "Yeah, I understand. I should've known better."

Adam nodded back. "Focus on your studies this year, okay? N.E.W.T.s next year will be brutal, you know."

Rosie let out a small giggle. "So I've been told."

He shot a smile her way before Greer came skipping along next to him. "There you are! I was wondering where you ran off to." The blonde girl shifted her eyes towards Rosie, taking a hold of Adam's hand. "And you found Rosie."

"Yes, we had a nice talk," Adam said.

"I'm certain you did, but we must get going." Her grip on Adam's hand got tighter. "Walk me to my first class?" she questioned, raising her eyebrows towards her boyfriend.

"Sure," he replied, waving goodbye at Rosie. "Bye, Rosebud." With that, Greer pulled him back around in the direction she came from, not turning around to shoot Rosie another glance.

Once they disappeared around the corner, Rosie headed on to her first class, not giving anymore thought of anything associated with Death Eaters. Needless to say, the sparks that once ignited that passion no longer burned, fizzling out until it was nothing but smoke.

A/N: If someone can tell me to stop ending the chapters with Adam and Greer saying goodbye to Rosie, that'd be great.

Anyway, tell me what you think, because ya know, I'm insecure like that, LMAO, and I'm also unsure if people like it. Typical writer things, I guess, lol.
