Rogue stared at the screen. He prayed – he begged the green light to blink again. But he knew it wouldn't.

'Take care of them for me'. The words echoed in his mind. It wasn't just something she said. It was a message. It was her final wish. He would take care of them. He would take care of Supai. He would take care of Wren. He would take care of the devils who murdered her.

But at that moment Rogue wasn't sure he could even take care of himself.

"What happened?" asked the cook, who had seen Wren and Alex storm out of the room.

"She's gone."

"What?"

Rogue ripped off the headphone, "She's gone!" he shouted, regretting the fear in the cook's eyes as he was startled. "I-I'm sorry..." Words failed him and he walked away in silence. He needed to go somewhere. He needed quiet.

He blindly stalked through the halls, ignoring the looks on people's faces as he plowed through the crowds with a dark expression and a shadow over his eyes. He knew he looked terrifying, but at least it got him to where he needed to go: Zephyr's office.

Rogue slammed the door behind him and locked it. Immediately he could smell her. It was subtle and sweet. He had never noticed it in the room before. He never noticed it on her until she held him. Now it was everywhere, choking him until he couldn't breathe.

No, that was the lump in his throat he couldn't swallow. Tears burned his eyes like the anger that burned his heart.

He ran his fingers along her desk, its image distorting into a wooden blur. She was nothing but a blur now. Rogue sank to the floor and leaned his back against the desk. He slammed his fist into its side and let an animalistic cry escape him.

Rogue never let it get to him. Rogue never cried when Mersor pushed him, tortured him, or manipulated him. He never let Mersor see what he did to him. Now he had gone too far. Rogue thought he was free. He allowed himself to feel for someone else. But nothing changed. Mersor murdered his mother and now he murdered the woman he had fallen in love with. The worst part was that Mersor didn't even try. It was child's play to him. It didn't matter.

None of it mattered anymore. Zoe was gone. There was nothing left to break. He had finally shattered.
