Amanda approached Zephyr through one of the halls, "Can I talk to you?"

She nodded in the direction of Zephyr's office. Her face was sinister and controlled. Zephyr had noticed how much the Wren she knew had returned and she even wondered if the problem had inadvertently been solved. She hadn't mentioned anything about it in a while, and she stepped up to fill her own boots. Zephyr let it go with a concerned glower, but inside she questioned whether Amanda was able to do so. She had proved her wrong. It still surprised Zephyr. From memory, young Amanda was soft at heart. She hadn't been weak – that's for sure – but deep down, Zephyr thought it would take longer to adjust to rebellion life. Maybe it was there and she couldn't see it under Amanda's thick mask. Zephyr prided herself on seeing through masks, but she couldn't make out this anomaly that stood before her – both young and old.

"Of course."

Amanda was quiet until they entered the room, Zephyr locking the door behind her. When she turned, Amanda was already seated with a thoughtful expression.

"I talked to Phoenix," she said. It sounded like she was going to continue, but she only bit her lip, appearing deeper in thought.

"And?" Zephyr tried to hurry the process. Her curiosity always got the better of her.

"Phoenix can't tell you herself since she's on a mission, but we have some bad news."

Zephyr took a seat herself, leaning forward with her elbows on her knees and her fists over her mouth.

Amanda sighed before continuing, "We have a mole."

"What?" Zephyr snapped before she could stop herself.

"Someone has been feeding info to Akram. We don't know who it is, but Phoenix had a contact disappear because they looked into it. She's been trying to keep as low as possible, but hasn't made much progress other than someone sneaking through the woods every once in a while."

Zephyr placed her face in her hands. "Can we trust Phoenix?"

"She asked the same thing of you."

She snorted and rubbed her eyes, "Then I trust her."

They sat in silence for a few moments.

"Yesterday I got a former Mersor agent from the field. He claimed he would give full confession and spill everything he knew. Said he was in tight. So far we've kept him in a bunk, or in a chair with an interrogator. He hasn't resisted – in fact, he's giving us intel we couldn't hope for. They hooked him up to a lying detector and he's proven clean.

"However, after this, I'm going to be suspicious of everyone. Perhaps we should put a hold on recruiting. We can't do too much in case the mole gets skittish. But I still think I should question the rogue myself."

Amanda nodded in agreement, "That sounds good. If questioning goes well and he's released to the rest of Headquarters, maybe it would be a good thing to keep an eye on him, too."

"I'll do that. And when I'm gone I'll have one of the others do it for me," Zephyr snickered, "Maybe if I make Gunk his tag, he'll talk until the guy gives up and confesses from frustration."

Amanda couldn't help from smiling too, "Gunk?"

"Yeah, newest Supai agent; went straight to the top. An Ausie, too!" Zephyr mimicked an Australian accent, "Is as good at gabblin' as 'e is spyrin'."
