Pippin couldn't believe that he was riding on a tree, through the middle of a forest, on his way to attack the dwelling of one of the most powerful beings in Middle Earth.

Treebeard reached the edge of the forest and Pippin's mouth opened in shock. It was a wasteland. The trees had all been cut down, smoke clouded the
air, it was terrible.

"These trees were my friends." Treebeard told them, his voice shook in anger. "A wizard should know better!"

Pippin watched as more ents emerged from the forest. They stood in a line and waited for Treebeard to lead them.

Without a word the ents charged down the valley and towards the gates of Isengard.

The attack had begun.

------------------------------------------------------

The orcs led Aragorn down the stairs back towards the cell. A million thoughts ran through Aragorn's head. Had he done the right thing? Allowing Saruman to kill his friends so that he wouldn't find the Ring?

A low rumbling echoed through the hall. They stopped walking. The orcs looked around in confusion.

A boom thundered around them and knocked them off their feet. Aragorn quickly saw his chance and grabbed one of the orc's knives.

He killed the orc swiftly and turned on the other. It didn't have a chance. Aragorn took the dead orc's knife and carried it along with the other.

He didn't know what was happening, or if it was good or bad, but at that moment, his only priority was freeing his friends.

He raced down the stairs and back towards the cell.

------------------------------------------------------

Outside the battle raged on. The ents unleashed a fury that had never been seen before in Middle Earth.

They trampled orcs, destroyed the machines Saruman had built, and hurled boulders at the Orthanc. Although it wouldn't be enough to destroy the tower.

The orcs tried to fight back but it was no use. They had been taken by surprise and they were unprepared for this kind of attack.

There was no doubt in anyone's minds.

Isengard would fall.

------------------------------------------------------

Gimli sat and watched Legolas pace back and forth in front of the cell door.

The elf hadn't stopped since they had taken Aragorn away.

While Gimli was glad to see Legolas on his feet again, the pacing was driving him mad.

"Will you please stop?" Gimli shouted. Legolas paused. He stared at the dwarf, his eyes still had that crazed look in them.

Thankfully, he stopped pacing, yet he continued to stand by the door.

Although Gimli was relieved that Legolas' condition was improving, he worried that the same thing would happen to Aragorn.

A small noise started to sound from the top of the stairs that led out of their prison.

It stopped. They heard it again, only this time louder, and it also shook the cell. Legolas stumbled but quickly regained his balance.

Gimli rolled onto the floor and grunted. One more crash thundered around the room and threw both elf and dwarf to the ground.

Gimli stood up and shook himself. What was that?

He looked over at the hobbits, neither had moved. Legolas was getting back to his feet. Gimli noticed the door, it was broken.

Gimli raced over to it. He shoved it as hard as he could and it loosened, just enough for them to slip out!

Gimli turned excitedly to Legolas, but the elf had moved over to the hobbits. He knelt down next to them and placed a hand on each of their heads.

He spoke softly in elvish. Gimli didn't understand a word of it.

Suddenly Frodo's eyes shot open. He gasped and looked around wildly. "Legolas? Gimli! What are you doing here?"

"It's a long story lad." Gimli told him. The dwarf looked at Merry. The hobbit hadn't awakened.

"His strength is failing. He will not live long." Legolas gently lifted the hobbit into his arms. He held him tightly and looked at Gimli.

The dwarf nodded and helping Frodo, who was still weak, they made their way out of the cell.

------------------------------------------------------

Aragorn raced down the stairs and entered the prison. To his surprise Gimli, as well as Frodo stood outside the cell.

Legolas emerged with Merry in his arms. Frodo noticed Aragorn and exclaimed in relief, "Aragorn! The others said that you had been taken."

"Well, I'm here now." he walked up to them and handed Gimli his extra knife. "We need to leave."

Taking the lead he called over his shoulder, "Follow me!"

------------------------------------------------------

They raced through the tower as fast as they could. Aragorn in the front, Gimli in the back, and Frodo and Legolas in the middle.

The sounds of the battle outside raged on. As more boulders were hurled at the tower, the more debris began falling around them.

While Aragorn doubted that the tower would collapse, they could still get buried by the falling wreckage.

As they ran Aragorn noticed that the hall they were in was beginning to look familiar, he knew where they were, they were almost out!

Aragorn stopped and urged the others forward. They ran past him and towards the way out.

Once Gimli passed Aragorn turned to follow when he stopped and noticed that a large part of the ceiling was about to fall on them.

He began to run when something tripped him from behind, an orc.

He killed it quickly with his knife. He scrambled back to his feet but it was too late.

The part of the ceiling fell.
Trapping Aragorn behind it.

------------------------------------------------------

"Tear down the dam! Release the river!" Pippin watched in excitement as the ents tore down the large dam that blocked the river.

The water gushed out and flooded the area. It filled the casms in the earth and washed away everything that the wizard had created.

They had won. Isengard had fallen. And in his tower, Saruman stood in blind fury. Everything he had built, was gone.

------------------------------------------------------

Legolas raced back towards the spot where he had last seen Aragorn. He stood in front of the huge pile of black stone and called desperately to the other side.
"Aragorn! Are you alright?"
A voice called from behind the debris,
"I'm fine! You need to get the others out!"

Legolas was taken back by Aragorn's words. He couldn't leave him. Not Aragorn. Not his friend.
"No! I'm not leaving without you!"

"Listen to me, if you stay here you will die! All of you! Is that what you want?"
Legolas didn't respond. His mind raced for any idea of how to get Aragorn out, but there was nothing.

"Noro!" Aragorn shouted.

"Legolas..." The elf looked down at Frodo. The hobbit's eyes were filled with grief. "We have to go."

Legolas turned back towards the rubble. He called out one last time, "I will come back, I promise!"

There was no response. Without another word, Legolas led them out of the tower.
