Aragorn approached Eomer who stood on the wall that faced Mordor. "Any news?" he asked.

"Nothing. And I'm worried." Aragorn nodded. He turned to leave when an all too familiar shriek pierced the air.

Nazgul.

He raced back to Eomer's side and looked up at the sky in horror.

Nine Nazgul on fell beasts were approaching the city. Behind them was a massive army of orcs.

"How did they get here without us knowing?" Eomer asked in disbelief.

"It doesn't matter. We have to get everyone out of here."

Eomer nodded and shouted at a soldier to sound the alarm. Aragorn raced down the wall and searched for his friends.

He found Eowyn almost immediately. "Aragorn what is happening?"
"We're being attacked. Where are the hobbits?"
"They're with Theodred."
"Find them. Get them as well as many people as you can to the tunnel. Hurry!"

Eowyn hurried off while Aragorn ran to gather the men. They had to hold them off for as long as they could.

The Nazgul flew over the city. Their deafening screams filled the air.

The people panicked. Some soldiers were trying to get them to move towards the tunnel.

Aragorn drew his sword. Realising that it was Anduril. The sword Gandalf had given him.

He didn't have time to think about it as he stood with Eomer near the gate. The orcs appeared to be tearimg it down with their bare hands.

What power have they been filled with?

Aragorn gripped his sword and awaited the oncoming horde. There was a deafening crash as the gate fell forward.

The orcs poured through. The men stood to face them, thankfully Boromir only took a small army of men with him.

The majority of Gondor's army was still in the city. Some began leading people away from the fight while others defended them from the orcs.

But the orcs seemed stronger and more powerful than before. Aragorn was quickly losing strength.

They couldn't hold out for long. The Nazgul riding their Fell Beasts dove into the army of men, carrying soldiers into the air before dropping them to their deaths.

"Aragorn!" Eomer shouted. "We have to fall back!"

Aragorn looked around. Most of the people had been led to safety already. Aragorn called out to the soldiers.

"Fall back! But don't let them reach the people!" the soldiers began to draw away. But the orcs and Fell Beasts kept coming.

There was no way they could win this.

------------------------------------------------------

Gimli looked in horror at what he saw. Orcs pouring in through the gate, Nazgul attacking, it was chaos.

He watched the struggling men. They couldn't win this fight. Not on their own. They needed help.

And he knew just where to find some. The place where Gimli was at was currently empty. Everyone else had left already and no orcs had come there yet.

He raced inside the throne room, down one of the long halls and down into the dungeon.

"Legolas!" the elf walked over to the bars of his cell and looked out. "Gimli? What's going on?"

"Orcs and Nazgul are attacking. We need your help." Gimli began searching for the keys.

"Did Aragorn send you?" he asked.
"No. I came myself. Where in Durin's name is that key?"
"So you, a dwarf, need am elf's help?"
"Yes! I mean no! I mean, argh where is it?"
"It's over there hanging on the wall." Legolas pointed to where the key hung in the dark.

"I knew that." the dwarf grumbled. He had to use his axe to reach them. He ran over to Legolas's cell and began trying different keys.

"Why do you need me? Aren't you afraid?"
"Afraid of you? A blonde pointy-eared elvish princeling? Of course not!"
"But do you trust me? What if I can't control myself?"

Gimli stared at the elf. He could tell that he was scared. Scared of himself and what he might do to his friends.

"I trust you Legolas."

Legolas smiled and pointed to one of the keys. "It's that one."

"I knew that." Gimli pushed the key in and opened the door. Legolas ran out and ran towards a spot in the dungeon and pulled out his bow and arrows. He also grabbed his knives.

They left his weapons down here? When they were afraid of him killing them?

Gimli watched as Legolas put his knives onto his back and his quiver full of arrows. He held his bow and raced out of the dungeon with Gimli behind him.

When they returned outside Legolas took in the situation. He saw orcs and Fell Beasts and men figting for their lives.

"There's a tunnel where they're leading the people. We need to make sure they get there without any orcs following." Gimli informed him.

"Where's the tunnel?" Gimli pointed to where a small stream of people were running away from the battle.

"Alright." Legolas suddenly ran away from Gimli. He watched as the elf ran passed the white tree and towards the edge of courtyard.

What was that crazy elf doing?

"Legolas!" the dwarf watched as the elf jumped over the edge. He was about to run over when he saw a Fell Beast with a Nazgul on it. Legolas was somehow managing to fight with the Nazgul while avoiding falling off.

He stabbed the Nazgul in the back with his knives and flung the wraith off of the beast. It fell to the ground shrieking.

Legolas took hold of the Fell Beast's reigns and, while standing, drove the Fell Beast down towards the army of orcs.

He used the Fell Beast to grab the orcs, and just as the Nazgul had been doing he lifted into the air and dropped them back down onto the orcs that fought below.

Once the other Nazgul realised what was going on they flew towards Legolas. The elf drove the Fell Beast up into the air, he took one of knives and stabbed it into the creature's head.

As it fell Legolas sprang onto a another Fell Beast. It flew over the courtyard and Legolas lept off. He rolled onto the ground, pulled out his bow, fitted an arrow in the bowstring, and shot it down before it could fly away.

Legolas didn't waste a moment and ran off into the battle, leaving Gimli standing there with his mouth open.

"I may have unleashed something worse than a Nazgul."

Gimli glanced at the dead Fell Beast. "Which could be a good thing."

Gimli raced off to join Legolas in the fight.

------------------------------------------------------

Pippin couldn't believe what was happening. Orcs were everywhere! Nazgul were flying around the place, and at the moment Theodred was their only protection.

He moved the hobbits forward, he knew where the escape was and he was desperate to get all four hobbits to safety.

As they moved he continued to search for any sign of his cousins. "Theodred!" they turned and saw Eowyn nearby, helping several people move away from the fight.

"Eowyn! Where's Eomer?" Theodred led the hobbits over to her. They looked around nervously. Orcs could come at any moment.

"He's with Aragorn. They're holding off the orcs." Eowyn glanced down at the swirling mass of orcs.

"I don't know how long they will last."

Theodred quickly took charge. "We need to get out of here. Come on, stay close."

He led them through the crowded streets full of frightened people. The orcs were getting closer.

"Look out!" Pippin was suddenly flung to the side. He landed hard on the ground. People were running all around him. He couldn't find the others.

He felt soneone grab his arm and pull him to his feet. Theodred. "Hurry!" they moved through the people trying to catch up woth the others.

An arrow suddenly whizzed through the air. It hit a man in the back and he fell dead.

"Move!" Theodred half dragged half carried Pippin through the streets. Orcs came up behind him.

Theodred shoved Pippin behind him and drew his sword. "Run Pippin!"

The hobbit froze. He couldn't leave him! An orc ran towards Theodred. He swung his sword and sliced the orc's head off.

Another came and he stabbed it in the chest. It was no use. More and more orcs kept coming.

Theodred was knocked down. He fell to his knees and struggled to stand. An orc stabbed him in the heart.

"No!" Pippin watched as Theodred fell. He didn't have time to mourn for him. He got to his feet and ran. Tears falling down his face.

------------------------------------------------------

Eowyn waited with the hobbits just outside of the large door that lay open for the long line of people that poured into it.

They'd noticed that Pippin had gotten seperated. Theodred had gone after him and told them to keep going.

They wouldn't enter the tunnel until all their friends had arrived. As Merry searched the crowd for Pippin he saw Gimli making his way towards them.

"Gimli! Over here!" the dwarf made his way towards them and the rest of them were surprised to see who was behind him.

"Legolas?" Sam asked.
"I'll tell you later." Gimli quickly searched for the others.
"Where's Aragorn?"
"And Pippin?" Legolas added.

"Pippin and Theodred got seperated from us. Aragorn and Eomer are at the front holding off the orcs."

Their eyes widened. They had seen where men had still been fighting the orcs.

"I'm going to find them." Legolas announced.
"By yourself?" Frodo asked.
"Yes. Stay with them Gimli. All of you get inside and do not come out no matter what."

The elf turned to leave and stopped. "I mean it Gimli. Stay here."

The dwarf stopped and watched as Legolas disappeared from sight. "Be careful lad."
