We had been walking for a whole day. We had to sleep on freaking sand! I missed those days when my gondola wasn't broken! I slept in it in my shifts if there weren't any spirits waiting at the docks, but lately lots of people were dying.

I regretted not telling Pit about Messorem. He was getting really strong and persuasive, so much that I had a dull ache that kept on getting stronger in my head. Heck I even have to rest more than usual. It's hard for me and Pittoo to explain why to Pit.

He suspects something, I know he does.

Right now I am walking in the lead and Pit is next to me. So this was why he got close to me all of the sudden- he wants to know what's up. I only could wish it was for some other reason. Well I can't tell him now, it's too late. He'll get hurt that I didn't tell him sooner.

At least Edgy boy knows, I'm glad I can share the burden.

Hopefully we'll reach the chimaera's forest before noon. I am really not looking forward to this...

"Hey Y/N?" Pit asks, thankfully drowning Messorem out. "How close are we to the forest?" Pit asks, I glance at the map in my hands before answering "Close."

"How close?" Pit persists looking at me with a smile "About an hour." I reply. Jeez! I'm travelling with a child! Only an hour away until I'm faced with my biggest fear... I hope Pit is as good at fighting as he says he is!

I roll my shoulders back and try to look confident, but I guess Cupid and Edgelord aren't fooled so easily. "Are you okay Y/N?" Pit looks at me in concern "Yeah! You've been jittery all day!" Pittoo adds his twopence.

"I'm fine!"

"Can the lying reaper!" Pittoo exclaims looking smug. He knows.... The nerve of him! "You can tell us!" Pit gives me an encouraging smile.

I sigh, I've already lied and hidden so much from him... I should tell him. "Well... you see... I-I'mscaredofchimaeras!" I say quickly, lowering my eyes.

When I gather the courage to look up again, I practically die of embarrassment. Dark Pit is laughing and Pit is still looking at me. Pit glares at Pittooey "Do I laugh when you're scared?" Pit snaps pointedly, Pittoo immediately stops laughing and nods.

I almost smile at the scene. Who knew Pit could shut Dark Pit up so fast?!

"It's okay to be scared, Y/N." Pit says gently, it's as if he's talking to a six-year old! The way he says it makes me more embarrassed if possible. "Everyone is scared of something! I'm scared of eggplants...!" Pit chuckles nervously "You can tell us! We won't laugh!" Pit finishes with a smile.

"Pittoo, did." I reply pointedly. Pit puts his hand on my shoulder, I almost jump in surprise. "Well Pittoo isn't exactly nice." Cupid points out, "You won't get hurt on my watch, Y/N!" I nod more focused on how his hand is in my shoulder. PERSONAL SPACE CUPID.

I don't say it out loud as much as I want to. Part of me says if I do- it would hurt his feelings. Since when was I so concerned about feelings anyway?!

Dark Pit's voice brings me to reality "Don't call me that!" he snaps. "Hey, wouldn't we see the trees if the forest was close?" Dark Pit asks me. I nod "You'll see..." is all I say, it's fun knowing something Pittoo doesn't.

Emo Pit just rolls his eyes and mutters some insult under his breath. I'm too scared to care- Pit's pep talk didn't reassure me at all. It just told me that there is an Edgy bird boy, a cheerful bird boy and a vandalised stick between me and a chimaera.

The silence let's me zone out and focus on my thoughts. Will I be able to pass through the path of shadows? Aether is more good than I am and... she couldn't do it...

Then again Aether didn't have friends- I mean partners!- to help her. Who knows? Maybe I'll stand a chance! If I don't, then I guess I'll have to pay the price... I'll have my memory wiped and my life reset. I won't remember any of the adventures or fun I've had in life.

I won't remember anyone. No Hades, Persephone, Atropos, Lachesis, Clothos, Cerebus, Phobos, Deimos, Aether, Dark Pit and Pit. This is why I HAVE to be free! This is why I'm doing this. I want to choose my own life.

I don't want to live a life someone else laid out for me. I will forge my own path, wether it's successful or not.

Suddenly I'm pulled back, a yelp of surprise escapes my lips. I turn around and see that Pit was the one who pulled me back, but from what? I look down at my feet and see a drop and a few meters away from the drop, I see trees.

"Thank you, Pit." I say quietly, stiff with fear. "No problem, Y/N!" He smiles, his cheerful demeanour drops when he sees my expression. "Is that the place?" Dark Pit asks coming up behind us, I slowly nod.

That is it.

I'm finished!

My fate is sealed!

"This is the forest of the Chimaera."
