005. meeting him

RUBY woke up early on a monday. she wanted to be productive. her art lessons have been a true blessing but sometimes she wishes that she didn't have to teach art for 6 hours straight. she did have a few breaks in between but once you're in the mindset of painting you can't snap out of it.

luckily for her she only had to teach four days and they payed her good. she worked tuesday-friday and sometimes sunday but they said that that was only rarely. this money, she thought it would be the perfect day to go out and get more decorations for her apartment.

it was slowly coming together but she just needed up a few finishing touches. so as she ate her breakfast she picked up her phone to start searching but instead she got a text message from her best friend, alex.

RUBY was walking down hallway of the apartment building once more looking around and letting the feeling of the fresh air go through their hair. It was peaceful until there someone came running over to her.

"See I told you!" it was alex. he was running towards her. his locs flowing with the wind and his leather jacket flowing behind him. his steps were big so in a matter of seconds he was in front of ruby.

Ruby let out a laugh as alex jumped onto her and brought her in a hug. "you are so short." He teased letting go of the hug and looking down at them.

"you aren't meeting Callahan anymore." Ruby said turning around and walking back to their apartment.

"No! Im sorry!" alex said turning them around to face him. "how about we go met Callahan?"

"if we met him you have to promise me to not give out who I am." Ruby said slapping his chest making sure he was paying attention. "why?"

"Because he doesn't know that I'm Ruby! Well, he knows that I'm Ruby, but he doesn't know that I'm that Ruby!" She said confusing even herself. "so like try not to say anything so obvious that will make him know it's me."

alex nodded and ruby started leading them over to the flower shop.

"Wait what if he thinks were dating?" She asks turning to face him

"you guys flirt all the time correct?" alex asked making ruby blush and nod her head. "okay so if you just continue to flirt with him while in front of me."

She sighed with a hesitant nod, the two walked out of her apartment and walked down the street to the small flower shop on the corner of the street. It was a short walk from hers to the shop. While walking alex and Ruby made dumb jokes with one another.

she loves the fact that even if person there was never anything awkward between them. she loves that the friendship they have is real.

They got to the corner, ruby looked at quackity before opening the shop door just for any sign of approval, he nodded quickly. As the two walked in the first thing they saw was maggie siting at the front desk.

"Hello ruby!" She greeted sweetly as the two walked closer and closer to her. "who's this handsome young man?"

"hi, maggie." ruby greeted giggling softly. hooked her arm through alex's arm and brought him closer. "this is my best friend, alex."

"Its nice to meet you i here a lot about this place." He told her while shaking her hand.

"its nice to meet you to sweetie."

While in the back of the store you could say thay Callahan was freaking out. Its not like he didn't recognize alex voice, he knew it was alex because he's seen his streams thousands of times. anyone who's watched him could tell that it was him. now, his mind wondered back to ruby. it had to be. there was no doubting it anymore. this was his moment to figure out if it's her or not.

Maggie tilted her head to the side and gave ruby a smile, "you here for Callahan?" She asked the girl, ruby giggled nervously and looked down at her hands while her checks flushed a crimson color.

"I wanted to show Alex the shop... But I mean if hes here." she admitted shyly.

Maggie let out a low chuckle before calling out his name, he stuck his head out of door leading to the back of the store. He saw the girl and smiled at her, tipping his head down as a greeting. "hi." She breathed out.

alex was freaking out and was hitting her thigh repeatedly in order to keep himself from shouting or saying anything. "I'll leave you three kiddos." Maggie said before leaving the three.

alex looked over at Ruby got approval making her nod her head with a sigh. "So, what is your name? Carton? Or is it like—" alex acted like he didn't know his name. he strolled over to the counter leaning on it. he pretend to think deeply and started playing with the pen that was on the counter.

"I'll be looking around for another plant." Ruby announced looking elsewhere. it was now or never. Callahan waited until ruby was further down into the shop and he started taking the pencil from his ear and writing something down in the notepad.

Callahan.

"oooh, Callahan." Quackity said in fake amusement making Callahan roll his eyes and write something else down. "you know i have a friend named callahan. what a coincidence."

alex's eyes widen and he opened his mouth up before closing it again glancing over at Ruby who was to busy looking at the plants. That was the only thing that he needed to know for his question to be answered.

alex.

"no. yes. maybe." alrx said nodding his head and shaking his head before sighing deeply, it was no use anymore. "yes." he grumbled. ruby was going to murder him and make sure no one found his body.

so is that Ruby? my Ruby?

alex smirked at the, my Ruby, part. He has been the main shipper for them two, ever since Ruby first admitted. everyone thought it was just a joke. but when ruby would talk about callahan it wasn't a silly crush anymore.

"I'm not telling you that." alex said making the male groan a little and quickly rip out the page and throw it to the trash noticing Ruby walking up to them.

"you're not going to buy anything?" Ruby asked glancing over at alex who shook his head watching Ruby pay for the plant. Whilst he did that, when Ruby wasn't looking, Callahan lifted his gaze over to her and admired her features for a little before handing her back the plant before she noticed. "thank you." Ruby said watching Callahan write something down on the notepad.

alex giggled leaving the shop as Ruby blushed lightly smiling weakly at him then she turned around, but like always she was able to catch a glimpse of him mocking a salute at her.

"princess." alex teased at Ruby before letting out a dramatic gasp. He got out a pen and a piece of notebook from the small backpack that Ruby had before writing something down. "Be right back."

alex ran back inside the flower shop handing Callahan the paper. "you want to find out if that is your Ruby? here ya go." alex said before leaving once more.

"what was that all about?" she asked.

"nothing." he said shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders.
