Soft silver tabby fur gently touched the earth's delicate dirt. Heat glazed over the small forest; yet unnoticeable under the trees. Shade the green leaves provided gave enough for the cat that was napping. A single ear twitch and a deep breath showed the cat was living. Yells could faintly be heard but not enough for the cat to bother.

But the cat could not sleep forever.

Sighing from the effort, the silver tabby raised her head, glancing around with crystal blue eyes. She let out a yawn before getting up from her leafy nest. She had made it awhile after she found the small forest. Every now and again a stray cow would come into her home, but not enough to bother her.

Ash's eyes scanned the area before trotting towards the sound of water. Leaning forward she sniffed before lapping some water up. It tasted warm, but it was fresh. Glancing around and deciding she wanted to explore; the silver tabby turned away from the water and trotted out from underneath the trees.

The sky was a clear blue, the only thing daring to stay in the sky was the sun. Ash trotted along, feeling the hot dirt underpaw but she paid no mind. She had gotten used to it, going to explore the area across her home and the other houses down the street.

Her eyes lit up excitedly as she noticed the street that split her home away from where younger humans would visit for most of the day.

Making sure no monster was around, the silver tabby shot across. Feeling the hot road underpaw made her want to stop and lick her burning paws but the cool earth on the other side helped. Panting and looking around she noticed a bunch of monsters were asleep.

Creeping around, Ash padded around them, spotting clusters of humans walking along and dabbling in high pitched voices to each other.

Ash had always admired humans but she was a wild cat at heart. She watched from inside some bushes, looking in awe.

As time went on the she-cat started to grow hot. Letting herself pant a little she turned and trotted out of the bush. The humans had all went inside so she started to look around for shade. Spotting a chair sitting against a wall she jumped up and curled in it.

The chair felt nice and cool; at least cooler then the earth she walked on. Closing her eyes, she let herself doze off.

It had only been for a few heartbeats before she heard a distressed yowl. Eyes flicked open and she looked around in curiosity. She got up and jumped down, noticing an older female human was yelling at something.

She then saw him.

The solid black tom who was scrunched up against the wall, fur pricked and letting out a hiss. Ash started to panic. "Hey! Run this way!" She called, hoping he'd hear. Ash noticed his ear flicked at her mew and she noticed he was able to squeeze threw.

Ash's pelt pricked in fear at first when the tom came racing to her but she simply flicked her tail for him to follow. She turned, feeling her heart beat fast as she led the tom along, away from the school.

By the time she heard the faint sound of a bell ring she had already made it across and towards the small forest. She slowed her pace, letting the tom pad up to her. "Are you alright?" She asked, a little out of breath.

"Yes, thank you for helping me." The tom panted, his chest heaving. "Here, come with me. My forest is big enough for you to stay for awhile." Ash mewed, leading him into the forest. It felt nice to be back, the shade covering her back from the hot sun and a slight wind picking up. She led him down to the small stream so he could have something to drink.

After he was able to calm down she had brought him back to her nest. "Settle down, you seemed to be in quite the shock." She mewed, flicking her tail for him to settle down. The tom dipped his head before settling down.

"So, what's your name?" He asked politely. Ash realized he was trying to converse. "Ash. My mother gave it to me because of my pelt." Ash licked a paw and drew it over her ear. "What about yours?" "I'm Ace. I once was a housecat until I moved here. My owners left me behind so I learned about being wild." Ace explained, closing his eyes for a long moment. Ash couldn't help but look in awe. "How come you were over by the Big Buildings? Those young humans go there a lot but most of them don't like cats." She couldn't help but ask. Ace flicked his ear and looked up, green eyes meeting her's.

"I was told I'd meet someone there, or at least they'd save me."
