Several more months later...

Classes were utterly, dreadfully, amazingly boring.

Kidding!

Was that a joke and did I just crack it?

What does that even mean?!

I shook my head as I laughed and then grinned widely.

I think I'm going insane actually.

Nevermind, cross that out, I am insane. I was way too giddy for my own good to not be completely insane.

"Are you feeling alright?" Jaxson.

"Avery?" Lily.

"Bark?" The imaginary dog.

"I don't know... maybe PMS?" I shrugged.

"Did you just crack a joke?" Jaxson and Lily asked together in disbelief.

Omg, this is too hilarious.

I was laughing almost wildly now and several students even took the time to turn around in their chairs and stare at me like I became a psychopath the last five seconds.

Probably because there's nothing funny about reading a classic.

But if they only knew what we had been talking about in reality.

Definitely not about what was in the novel.

I sighed, we really should be working on our assignments right now.

Jaxson, Lily, and I were all in the same English class and we had a trio group project due in approximately less than two weeks.

Although the short deadline away amazed me, the differences that had taken place to get to the here and now surprised me even more.

It was hard to imagine that only last month, when the teacher would assign group projects, I would be the person left behind, sitting in the back corner alone until someone needed another member to complete their group.

It was then that Jaxson had made his way up to me and asked me if I wanted to be in his group that consisted of just himself.

I was flattered even if we did usually talk a lot in all the classes we shared together, I just wasn't sure if we were that close that he would ask me to be in his team for the first project of the school year instead of all his other friends who were just as kind as him.

I hesitatingly said yes as his friends were okay with the arrangement. I had turned behind Jaxson and noticed all his guy friends smirking at us. I had blushed.

It was also at that moment when I spotted a girl sitting in her seat by herself. Her name was Lily.

She became the best friend I never had.

We all bonded over that first project we had together, but I never would have thought that the second project would be the three of us again since this time the teacher had taken the initiative to choose the groups.

Maybe fate was on our side.

And currently, we had been talking about the most random and strangest things for the past fifteen minutes and I got the feeling we were really, really, really, seriously behind all the other students in our work.

Although we did manage to catch up to the rest of the class by the time the bell rang.

And I also have to admit, that might've been the best hour I ever had in the history of my life.

Kidding again!

That was one of the best hours, minutes, seconds I ever had in the history of yours truly.

And soon, all my classes were over and done with for the day and I breathed in the fresh air of pure freedom.

School had been pleasant as always, the usual routine of endless laughter and a humongous workload.

It really was nice even with all the classwork and homework steadily piling up one by one after each class, but I didn't mind.

Though I enjoyed being at home and watching Netflix all day too nevertheless.

I then rushed to my locker to pick up my books and I was in the middle of walking home on a nice afternoon when something peculiar captured my attention.

When I glanced over, I didn't even know why it caught my attention in the first place, it was some couple doing... I don't know, PDA?

I couldn't make out their faces and I honestly didn't really care who it was since I probably didn't know them anyways; but as expected, curiosity beat me.

I was already planning on going the left route home so I turned at the left corner and bam. Never thought I would see that kind of scene. I think I've been scarred for life.

It was Connor.

Oh, and my guess was correct, sort of, he was doing PDA with a girl... by a pine tree... with pine cones scattered about.

Okay. Time to leave.

I hadn't recognized the girl, not that I would care either way, that was the last thing on my mind.

I was just about to twist back to the direction I was going when Connor saw me staring at them before I took the minute to turn around.

Talk about awkward.

But due to my somewhat quick reflexes, I was able to turn my head quick enough and keep on walking towards my destination as that picture displayed in front me didn't happen at all.

And truthfully, it didn't, really.

I mean I guess it should've hurt that he took something so important to me and then blatantly move on to another girl so fast and obviously didn't even... whatever, it's over and done with.

That might've been the worst thing that has happened to me, but I wasn't going to dwell on it. I was going to look ahead. I wasn't going to stay and keep my past company any longer.

After all, enough is enough.
