"Mum! Please! Why can't you get better!" I screamed slightly at her while tears silently swept down my face.

"I'm sorry darling but it's not up to me." She pulled me closer and rubbed my head.

"But mum why did this happen!" I cried out while clinging to her. My newly born sister was waiting in the other room with dad. Though I was only three I had been told I was very intelligent for my age. I don't quite get that though.

"Sweety I'm sorry but this is what was meant to be. We can't stop it so there's no reason to waste your tears. Save those tears for something meaningful one day." She told me and acted as though she was one of the elders. Her wisdom was something that would always be with me.

"Alright Mum, I'll be strong." I nodded my head and slowly the tears stop.

"You know your secret now keep it safe Sweety. One day it my get you and all those you love in trouble. Then you'll have to be strong enough to save them." She said referring to my oddly colored eyes.

"Alright Mum, I'll keep it hidden. No one will ever find out." I nodded my head in determination and my eyes slightly sparkled under the flicker of the flame on the candle.
