Many reporters with cameras swarm Lucinda and Laurance. Laurance keeps a straight face while Lucinda is red eyed and miserable-looking. They enter the train and it begins to move to its destination: the Capitol. Laurance walks off to another direction in the train with no words. A guard walks up to Lucinda. He looks around to see if anyone is watching, then leans in, staring at a confused and wrecked Lucinda intently.

"I hope you win." He whispered.

Irene approaches and The Guard wuickly straightens up and tries to cover the evidence that he's been talking to the tribute.

"Oh, did you need help showing Lucinda to her room?"

"No. I was just showing her the way. Come with me, Tribute. Goodbye, Ms. Irene." The Guard takes Lucinda to her room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door to Lucindas' room slams, heard from the distance. The Guard's footsteps slowly fade away.
Irene walks towards Lucindas' room.
Lucinda is zoned out while examining the mockingjay pin.
Irene enters the room.
"Dear, it's time for supper."
"What? Oh, Alright." Lucinda sighed.
She follows Irene out the door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lucinda and Irene walk into the dining room table where Laurance is waiting.

"Where's Enki?" Irene asked, sitting down.

"Last time I saw him, he said he was going to take a nap." Laurance said, playing with a butter knife.

"Well, it has been an exhausting day."

They begin to tatse the erotic foods. (AKA EAT XDDD I JUST WANTED TO MAKE IT SOUND FANCY AND STUPID FOR HUMOR XD) Irene notices their manners.

"At least you two have decent manners. The pair last year ate everything with their hands like a couple of savages. It upsetted my digestion."

Laurance narrows his eyes at Irene and begins to eat the rest of his supper noisily chewing and with his hands. Irene gives him an offended look, trying to eat while acting as if she had not noticed.

Enki enters awkwardly.

"Are you going to eat properly anymore?" Irene's nose scrunched up.

"Well, I was actually just leaving." As Laurance stands up from his seat, he wipes his hands on the tablecloth in front of Irene. They watch as he leaves.

All eyes go onto Lucinda. She slowly rises and leaves.

Once the door closes behind them, Enki giggles.

Lucinda and Laurance go into another room to watch the reapings of other districts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They watch the program with straight, hard-as-rock expressions, examining their competition closely.
The television shows Teony being announced as a tribute back in district 5 by a Captitol Reaping Announcer that has been assigned to that district. Teony has an expression that was similar to Lucindas'.
Irene enters the room. She picks up the remote and turns the T.V. off.
"Your mentor has a lot to learn about presentation. And a lot about televised behavior."
Laurance unexpectedly laughs, slightly surprising Irene and Lucinda.
"He was drunk. He's drunk every year."
"More like every day." Lucinda and Laurance laugh in unison. As Irene begins to talk,
their laughter fades into silence.
"Yes. How odd you two find it amusing. You know your mentor isyour lifeline to the world in these Games. The one who advises you, lines up your sponsors, and dictates the presentation of any gifts. Enki can well be the difference between your life and your death!"
Laurance and Lucinda look at eachother with a frown. Enki enters the room staggering and clutching a liquor bottle.
"I miss supper?" He slurred. Enki vomits all over the carpet and falls in his own mess.
"So laugh away, and we'll see who's laughing after you die!" Irene hops out of the room, dodging any spots with Enki's vomit.
"Oh, Enki. Why do you do this to yourself?" Lucinda sighs.
"Do whu tu mah self?"
Lucinda and Laurance proceed to help Enki back up to his feet. He falls down with a groan. Laurance throws him over his shoulder and hauls him into the bathtub and turn on the shower.
Enki sits there with a blank, lazy face. His clothes get wet along with his hair, but he seems to pay no attention to anything, much less that.
"Come on Enki, you don't want your clothes to get wet, do you?" Lucinda said, Facepalming.
Enki doesn't respond. He smacks his lips together.
Laurance turns to Lucinda.
"I'll take it from here."
Lucinda nods and heads back to her room.
She takes the cookies from the baker and throws them out the window. They fall into a patch of dandelions. After sitting there, day dreaming, Lucinda is still looking out the train window. She collapses on the bed, letting her hair tumble out of her braid, sobbing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Up, up, up! It's going to be a big, big day!" Irene bursts into her room.

Lucinda sits up from her bed with a groan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lucinda enters the dining car. Enki notices her at the door way and waves her over.
"Come, sit down."
She hesitantly joins them. The moment Lucinda settles down in her chair, chefs and workers burst into the room with tons of food, shocking the tributes. Irene claps, her face enlightened with delight. Enki chuckles. The chefs and workers serve tons of "fancy" dining food to everyone.
Enki is pouring red wine in a wine cup and a small bottle of either vodka or saki. Lucinda and Laurance are given mugs of hot chocolate. Many plates of food are set in the middle of the table. Irene begins to eat in upper class manners while Enki is more focused on the glass of red liquid he keeps combining with a bottle filled with clear liquid. Lucinda stares at the cup of the liquid she has never seen before.
"They call it hot chocolate. It's good." Laurance whispered to her.
Lucinda drinks it and looks very satisfied. The two begin to go through the enormous mound of food. After a bit, Lucinda leans back and begins to speak.
"So, you're supposed to give us advice." She says to Enki.
He drunkenly looks at her.
"Here's some advice. Stay alive." He burps, then bursts out laughing. Enki recovers and swirls his cup of wine in his hand. Laurance gets up.
"Ha ha. That's very funny." Laurance knocks the glass of wine out of Enki's hand, "Just not to us."
Enki pauses as he takes this all in. He stands up, walks towards Laurance slowly until they're face to face, then proceeds to punch Laurance in the jaw, knocking him to the floor. Irene flees the room. Enki tries to reach back for the bottle of clear alcohol, but Lucinda takes a knife and stabs it in the table between Enki's hand and the bottle with a glare. Enki smirks.
"Well, well! What is this? Did I actually get a pair of fighters this year?"
Laurance stands up and tries to get a handful of ice, but Enki stops him. "No, no. Let the bruise show. The audience will think that you've mixed it up with another tribute before we've even started."
"That's against the rules."
"Only if you get caught. That bruise will say you fought, you weren't caught, even better."
Enki turns to Lucinda. Irene peeks into the room. She sees the knife lodged into the table. She rushes to it.
"What is this?! That table was first class! That is mahogany!"
Silence.
"Oh, you just don't understand." Irene stomps out of the room.
Lucinda yanks out the knife and throws it into the wall across the room, lodging into the seam of two panels.
"Stand over here. Both of you." Enki instructs.
Lucinda and Laurance walk to the middle of the room and Enki checks them out.
"Well, you're not entirely hopeless. You both seem fit. And once the stylists get hold of you, you'll be attractive enough."
"I don't think I can trust you to help me win, Enki. You're always drunk." Laurance crossed his arms.
"Alright," He sighed, "I'll make a deal with you. You don't interfere with my drinking, and I'll stay sober enough to help you. But you'll have to do exactly what I say."
"Alright. Fine."
"So help us. When we get to the arena, what's the best strategy at the Cornucopia for someone-" Enki wags his index finger at Lucinda.
"No, no, no, no, no. One thing at a time. You'll be put in the hands of your stylists. You're not going to like what they do to you, but no matter what it is, don't resist."
"But-"
"No buts. Don't resist." Enki takes the bottle of clear liquid and leaves the room. Lucinda and Laurance exchange glances. The train is halting with a screeching sound. They both run to the window. Many people dressed oddly are waving excitedly at them. They've arrived at the capitol. Lucinda steps back but Laurance waves and smiles nicely at them until the train station blocks their view. Laurance turns and sees Lucinda behind him.
"What're you trying to do?" She looks at him like he's crazy.
"Trying to get sponsors. Duh. Who knows? One of them might be rich."
This sucks.
