I barely recognise Rihanna as she welcomes us in. True, she wears a lot of makeup to school and wears something new and different every day but she's gone full out today. Her blonde-highlighted hair is tied into half a side braid and the rest is effortlessly, but in a cool way, wavy. Coral pink lipstick stands out from her fake-tanned skin, the fake eyelashes covers her eyes and has short, black fake nails. She is wearing a long-sleeved black top, a grey overall dress, black tights and a pair of black vans. It seems like she has sprayed too much Chanel perfume.

"Hi. Glad you could come. Just party until you can't no longer," Rihanna briefly welcomes us and she strolls back through the crush of guests. Logan's friends make their excuses to leave, some of them to find their girlfriends, some to go play videogames and the rest to get a drink.

"I'm feeling a bit thirsty myself," Lara adds," Be back in a sec."

"Me too," I lie, only to avoid being left alone with Logan.

"No worries. I'll get your drink," Lara insists.

"It's ok. I'm kinda picky when it comes to drinks," I argue back.

"K. Tell me what drink you want," Lara persisted.

I sigh, defeated.

"Coke."

"Cool. Won't be long."

Lara winks directly at Logan as I watch her disappear.

An awkward silence hangs over us. Weirdly enough, Logan hasn't said something annoying.

"Do you want to go explore?" Logan asks, visibly uncomfortable.

"Shouldn't we wait for Lara," I suggest.

"She's a teenager, not a toddler."

"Was she already annoying as a toddler?"

Logan laughs heartily, the unease wearing off.

"Yep."

"Like you?"

"I was, am and will never be annoying."

"In your dreams."

"Ha. Very funny. Come on, let's see where's the most people. The more people, the more chaos," Logan urged and before I know it...he grabs my hand.

A tingling sensation vibrates throughout my body as he leads me into Rihanna's living room, where it's chaotic: the excited chatter and laughter goes over the buzz of the TV and the thumping of dance steps. The feeling vanishes as Logan lets go of my hand.

"You know, if I wasn't annoying, then you would have never had joined the basketball team and played basketball ever again," Logan compliments himself, proudly.

"I think I would have done it eventually so..."

"But I quickened the process, right?"

There's an anxious twinkle in his eye, something I've never seen in Logan before.

I blush, incapable of replying; hoping that he doesn't see. But my wish doesn't come true.

"I guess that's a yes?"

"Maybe."

"Yes! You admitted it!"

I stick my tongue out, childishly. Logan sticks out his back at me.

"I guess that I'm not getting a thank you today?" Logan prompts.

I sigh. He will never leave me alone again after I say this.

"Thanks," I whisper quickly.

"Sorry, what?" Logan asks, one hand cupped to his ear.

"I'll take it back."

"Ok. Fine. But it means a lot to me."

I can't believe my eyes. Is Logan blushing?

"Um, Luna..."

"Yeah...?"

"I-"

"Missed me?" Lara questions, stuffing my can of Coke in my hands.

I didn't know if this was possible but I never felt so irritated by Lara. Do you know that feeling you get when you feel like someone is about to tell you something important? I just got that with Logan.

"Nope. I preferred seeing the back of you," I answer with gritted teeth.

"Offended!"

"So, Logan...what were you about to tell me?"

"Uh-I was going to ask if you felt like dancing."

"You can dance?"

"Ouch! Burn!" Lara chuckles.

"I'm a boy of many talents," Logan replies, fake outraged.

"Yeah clearly dancing not one of them," Lara mutters under her breath, quiet enough for Logan not to hear.

"I'm a horrible dancer so you probably don't want to dance with me," I whisper, embarrassed.

"What a perfect fit! Two horrible dancers!" Lara exclaims.

"I'm coming back. Need to throw my can away," I say as I walk out of the room and into the kitchen.

As I walk back, I hear Lara and Logan whispering.

"You haven't told her?" I manage to recognise Lara's voice.

"I was about to tell her but that's when you came back," Logan whispers back.

I knew it wasn't about asking me to dance.

"I had stalled long enough. You were the one who was too scared."

Logan? Scared about what?

"Wouldn't you be scared if you were about to talk about your feelings that you have towards your crush."

WHAT!!!???

"Hey, guys," I call as I walk over to Logan and Lara.

Clearly, the cousins can't have a future in acting.

"Great. Let's go dance!" Logan exclaims, too enthusiastic.

However, whatever unease there was vanishes. Lara's the only one who's taking it seriously and is so brilliant that everyone is staring at her. It must be entertaining to Rihanna's guests, three teens dancing, one of them a star, the other two looking like donkeys, all of them tears of laughter streaming down their faces.

Eventually, we run out of breath and take a break, refreshing ourselves with cold drinks.

"That was probably the most fun I've had in ages," Lara remarks after chugging down a can of Sprite.

"Do you know what will be more fun? Hanging out tomorrow," Logan suggests.

"Sure. What time?" Lara accepts.

"Buzz off, cousin. I was talking to Luna," Logan rudely refuses.

My heart starts beating as fast as a cheetah.

"Luna would be bored if she only has you to hang out with, won't ya?" Lara points out.

I'm happy that Lara's trying to find a way of not leaving me alone with Logan, even if it's for her sake.

"It won't just be Luna and I. The rest of the basketball team is coming along. We're having a basketball practice," Logan explains triumphantly," I don't want you falling asleep, cuz."

Lara sighs, exhausted at her defeat.

"Fine. Have fun with Mr Boring, Luna!"

"Why are you sulking if you're calling me boring?"

"Because your whole life is based on basketball, Logan. It's all you think about."

"It's called commitment. Something you wouldn't understand."

Oh, oh! I think that if I don't do something I might be in the middle of a quarrel of cousins.

"Guys, chill! How about we go shopping after practice tomorrow, Lara? Just us two?" I ask, trying to bring the peace.

By the way, I hate shopping but I'll do anything to get out of this sticky situation and thankfully, Lara lightens up.

"Perfect. Text me when you finished practice and I'll meet you at the mall," Lara agrees.

"Well, great we've all compromised. I think we better make a start for home. Wouldn't want to get all of us in trouble," Logan advises.

We both nod, making our way out of the crowded house. I rejoice as a waft of fresh air ruffles my hair, which is not so perfect anymore. We have nobody to pick us up because Naomi went off to have her plans.

"We'll go to the nearest bus stop and take the bus. We're all going in the same direction, right?" Logan offers.

"No, my feet are tired. Let's take a taxi," Lara demands.

"We can't get a taxi. Luna has no money and she lives the furthest away. How can we pay for her, Miss-Foolish-Girl-Who-Decided-To-Wear-Heels?"

Lara lets out a low growl of pain.

"Lara, how about you wrap your arm around my shoulder and we go to the bus stop?" I compromise, feeling guilty that my issue of having no money on me is what causing the tension between the two.

"Thank the Lord, you came along, Luna. Otherwise, Mr-Mean-Cuz would have made me walk to the bus stop with no support!" Lara exclaims, relieved.

"I have a name, you know," Logan mutters underneath his breath while his cousin wraps her arm around my shoulder.

Logan strides on ahead of Lara and I. Basketball has made me stronger so it's only when she lets go, seated on the bus, do I realise my tiredness. Lara's the first to get off.

"See ya!" Lara calls out, struggling off her seat.

"Bye!" Logan and I chorus back.

Not long after, the bus arrives at Logan's bus stop.

"I enjoyed today," Logan explains.

"Me too," I repeat.

"See you tomorrow. We'll meet at 12 at McDonald's," Logan waves as he wanders off the bus.
