Chapter 16: Xienorra

The building roared as the giant sword struck the ground, and whirled on the walls, leaving scars, and bleeding clouds of dust, as it tried to catch Xienorra who was swiftly dodging the lad's attack.

It's been an hour since Xienorra didn't do something but dance with the sword and never attacked. Her opponent was too clumsy, unpredictable, and had a very quick reaction. But despite everything, Xienorra was enjoying the show.

A person might change his way countless times, but the pattern remains over and over again. Just like her big brother.

This lad doesn't care about the narrow hallway. The walls were as if just a thin air that his sword had no reason to stop its freedom to fly anywhere it wanted. The way the lad swayed its sword wasn't easy to read. It had no rules. But still, Xienorra managed to study behavior and that's why she could dodge easily as time went on.

The difference between systematic and unpredictable was that systematic was like a recipe book: you can't miss the first step in order to get into the second step. While unpredictability was just like a law. The punishment would occur depending on the sins committed. Similar to human behavior, the actions depend on the given surroundings, triggering your movements.

If he swayed the sword from above, he would whirl to forcefully remove the blade from being pinned on the ground while being able to go back to the momentum. And since it was swayed from side to side, he would stop for a moment and slash it from the ground to above while going forward to her.

But that's not how it ends.

Sometimes, when he smashed the sword to the ground, he would quickly slash it up. Xienorra blocked it purposely and found out that the force was weakened. So there were also times he used the sword pinned on the ground as a pole to leap and give her a kick, pinned out the sword, and charged against her.

The last statement was just his third set. And Xienorra observed that he could only use fifty sets of different attacks and after, he would just repeat other sets in random order. This was what made him look unpredictable, but to Xienorra, no one ever became predictable in her eyes. She doesn't need a Razuha to have a special talent because she was already talented through her extreme curiosity in studying human behavior.

Now that she memorized his sets of attacks, the next thing was to analyze its sets of defense. It'll take longer again. She flipped back five times like a wheel after dodging the last blade and stopped for a moment to breathe. The lad stopped as well with a happy maniac face.

"What's wrong? Are you tired of dodging? I'm grateful that you entertained me well but now I'm starting to get bored again if you just barely attack." His mouth suddenly gasped and a smirk reached his ears. "Or perhaps, you're belittling my ability because I'm just a young man and you're an old woman?"

Xienorra's temper made her lose her focus a bit. It's rude to tell girls they're old! Besides, she's just nineteen, and seemed like they're just the same age!

The lad raised its weapon horizontally, revealing the pebbled-size skulls like moss crowding the side of the blade. "Well, then, to stop holding you back, I won't hold back too–eh?"

A water bottle was thrown in his place, spilling water on his feet. But the direction where it came from was behind Xienorra. When she tried to look back, water was already poured into her hat.

"Allane was injured! We must go now, Kairus!" The voice came out from above so Xienorra tried to leap back but her feet were sinking under the water, unable to get out. She clicked her tongue.

She was being captured.
