Taegong is a South Korean duo formed in 2048 by renowned music mogul Flo Glitz, and signed under her label, Flo Glitz Entertainment. The duo consists of two members, Dal Gong-Gi (vocal, rap, and dance) and Gang Taeyang (vocal and dance), who gained popularity for their music, image, and marketing ploys.

Origins
Taeyang was scouted by his godmother, Flo Glitz, and was taken from his home to meet Gong-Gi, the former lead singer of VALENTINE COOKIE. The two members hit it off and went to work on their debut album Boy's Love straight away.

Artistry
Taegong's image was manufactured by their label and considered provocative and explicit for their target audience. Critics gave mixed reviews of their image, with some alleging that Gong-Gi was a paedophile and sex abuser. However, their music received critical acclaim, with Boy's Love being one of the greatest albums in 50 years, according to Poe Tree.

To appeal to a broader audience, Flo Glitz instructed the duo to pretend to be in a romantic relationship, despite Gong-Gi being straight. This marketing ploy was to attract LGBTQ+ fans, a significant demographic in the K-pop industry. Their fake relationship was eventually confirmed, causing a scandal that rocked the K-pop world.

Fake Wedding
After gay marriage was legalised in Korea, Gong-Gi and Taeyang got married in a televised ceremony. During this event, Gong-Gi was arrested for bigamy, which caused the biggest riot that the country had ever seen.

Success and Legacy
Despite the controversy, Taegong continued to release music and achieved great success over the next three years. They released ten albums in total, two each in Korean, Japanese, Chinese, English, and Spanish, with Taeyang's fluency in all five languages broadening their appeal globally. Their debut single I'm A Boy was a massive hit and topped the charts in many countries. Their debut album Boy's Love was a commercial success and sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

Taegong's success was short-lived. They announced their disbandment in 2052, citing creative differences and a desire to pursue solo careers. Nevertheless, they remain one of the most successful K-pop duos of all time. Their music continues to be loved by fans around the world.

Discography
Taegong's discography includes ten studio albums, two live albums, and a greatest hits compilation. They released their first album Boy's Love in 2048, followed by Sonyeon-ae, Nánhái de ài, Boizu Rabu, Amor de Chocos, Love Around The Tour, Jayu, Freedom, Zìyóu and Libertad. They went on the Eurasian Tour in 2051 and released The Very Best of Taegong the same year.
