My life was just fine until Bull-man showed up in my doorstep. And it was even better before the goddess Athena came to visit me before I was attacked. Okay so my day started like this: I was walking home from school with my best friend, Faith who I have known for three years now. It was Friday, my favorite day. It was sunny and warm. I live in New Jersey, so It was normal for me to walk after school to my house. Faith and I live only a couple of houses down from each other. Anyways we were talking about school and how Mr. Joller totally came up with a random project because he was that kind of teacher. It was June tenth, and school was almost over, thank goodness.

"Hey, were you listening?" Faith said, and I looked at her guilty. She was dark skinned, had short curly haired girl, wore glasses and was five foot three. She was wearing jeans, and a orange shirt. Completely opposite to what I was wearing and looked liked. I was normal height (Five foot one), had blue jeggings, had a purple shirt that said Yolo!, and I had long curly brown and black hair, currently in a high ponytail. I was also light skinned, tan to be more specific, and Mexican American. I was also not very pretty, but I was used to not looking in the mirror or in general not caring about my looks at all. I stopped caring in third grade.

"Nope-Sorry, what were you talking about?"

"Nevermind. So sleepover?"

"Sure my place? My dad is away on a trip..." I didn't talk about my mom because I never knew her. One day she just showed up with me and left me with my dad, that's what my dad told me. Don't get me wrong, my dad is awesome but its been troublesome. First of all I've been kicked out of three different schools for 'accidentally' getting into fights (to be honestly it was the other kid's fault). Second I'm not the smartest kid. And third of all I don't have many friends. I'm sometimes a loner at a new school. I don't fit in with the popular kids or even the very weird kids who talk about how 'memes' are the best thing that ever happened.

"Hopefully we can have a good time." My neighborhood wasn't the best or safest at night. But it was good enough. My house was a two story house, with four rooms upstairs, two bathrooms, and a pool in the back. My dad is a doctor so he is mostly away on trips or overnight work. I'm used to that since I was ten, but now I'm fourteen. I start high-school after summer.

"Of course! We can watch movies, and we can tell the latest gossip!" Faith said. Did I mention she had a british accent? Well she does. Even though she's not from Great Britain. We're both American. I laughed.

"Of course, we have to hurry if we're going to catch up on Stranger things! We have one more season to go!" And then we ran.

After we got to my house, Faith went into my beautiful kitchen to make popcorn and I was left to turn on the TV. We put on Netflix and shared popcorn. We laughed at funny parts, and continued to watch TV, not knowing the horrible events that were soon to unleash themselves.

"I'm going to use the bathroom, okay?" Faith said and got up from the couch, looking at her phone but was not in an application.

"Okay." I replied, shrugging it off.

As soon as Faith left, kaos unleashed itself. Suddenly everything went dark. I thought the power went out. I looked around and then my eyes froze on the TV, on the screen was a symbol:

It was an owl, and I could of sworn that I have seen that symbol before. I looked at for a long time. Suddenly something worse happened. A mist was in my house. I was amazed. Why would fog be in my house? The first thing that came in my head was Faith! And then second thing was that the mist wasn't mist but poisonous gas!

"Faith?" I called out, but I couldn't see anything. Just the TV's bright light and that weird symbol.

"Hello child." A female voice was coming from behind me. I turned my head around to see a beautiful lady with long hair, battle armor, and a spear. I gulped.

"What-who-" She shushed me.

"All you need to know is that you are my child and you are part of a very special prophecy. My name is Athena and I am your mother. You will find nine other demigods and you will go to camp half-blood. Find them. Don't stop, or else a giant will rise and kill everything that they have build. Stop the Giant who cannot be seen, beware of the monsters that will bleed. Don't stop to think what is wrong to right, free me when the time is right," She spoke in a rush.

The she said something that made me have chills. "You are my last child. Kelly Gomez, do not fail me or suffer the consequences." There. My name. Kelly... I hate it and now everybody knows it.

"This can't be! I'm not-your not my mom... I'll get you for this! How could you leave my dad. He's been so depressed since you left. How could you!" I ran to her, my eyes stinging, and before I could punch her or reach her she looked at me and I knew I was her daughter.

"I didn't want to leave your father, but... I had to... to keep you safe. You are my most special kid. And-"

I cut her off, "And you finally decided to pay me a visit when you need me." I bailed my fists. I was angry... so angry.

"Stay with your friend, she will show the camp. Don't lose her. She is a demigod too, but I will let her explain what's going on. But the Last Child of Athena will suffer death and will suffer pain in this quest." Athena said, and looked behind her. "Remember wisdom is key."

"You will meet new friends. You will be betrayed more than once on this quest. And you will meet your true love." And with that Athena bowed her head to me, as I gave a death stare, and in seconds she was gone. Like she disappeared out of thin air.

"So, what did I miss?" That was Faith.

"Oh nothing.. Expect my mom Athena came and told me I was special and that I'm a demigod, whatever that means, and you're one of them." I ground out.

Faith's smile disappeared in a flash, like my mom. "I-I'm sorry. I was sent by your mother to protect you from monsters. And when she was ready to talk to you, I was suppose to take you to camp."

"Wait.. is that why you left to the bathroom?"

Faith nodded, "Yes and I really had to go."

"So you knew! But never told me! HOW COULD-"

Before I could continue, a bang was heard.

"What was that?" I asked after a moment.

"Oh no! He is here. Kelly... do you have the pen I gave you?" Faith's eyes widen, as she looked at me then at the door.

I nodded, I didn't know what was the big deal. I took it out of my pocket from my jeggings. It was blue and then I noticed a owl symbol on a left side of the pen. Faith gave me the pen on the first day of school, and it was special to me because that's how we met. On instinct I pressed on the owl marking and it expanded, then turned into a sword, it had a weird glow look to it.

"Cool!" I said, grinning.

"Come out little demigod!" I heard a voice outside, it sounded gruff and evil.

"Uh oh! That's a Minotaur." Faith whispered, I gave her a puzzled look.

"We have to get out of here. -" Suddenly the house shook and the door popped out lose, and flew across the room. I twisted my head to face the where the door was at moments before, my sword in my hand. I saw a huge man about twenty feet tall. He had fur from about the belly-button on up and naked except for a pair of bright white shorts. I gasped.

I was stunned. It knew a little of mythology but I didn't know any bull-men. I didn't even know there was more than one god. Faith was by my side but her gaze was focused on the Minotaur. I was scared she would do something bad, and get herself killed. She's like that sometimes, a risk taker.

"RUN!" Faith yelled and charged for the Mantaur. The bull-man grunted and narrowed his eyes on me. Faith had a sword in hand, which I didn't see her pull out. She started slashing him. The Mantaur roared and backhanded Faith who crumpled to the ground. I screamed. I ran to her but something stopped me. A flash of grey and a boy was in front of me. I looked in alarm, and the boy ran to the minotaur, and leaped on him.
