Love, what is it? It can be a number of things. Love between a parent and a child, love put into the things you do, the love you feel for your friends.

Their are many different types of love, I'm here to talk about a special kind of love. A painful love, addiction.

Wether it be food, hardcore cocaine, turning the lights off 3 times to make sure they are off.

Addiction.

A certain type of addiction is people. The people who hurt you, ignore you, frustrate you, but you can't seem to let go.

You feel exhilarated when they decided to give you the time of day, when they shoot you a quick text being nothing more then a 'Sup'.

It's painful, because you know you need to let go but you don't want to.

Enough with my rambling lets get on with the story.

They were polar opposites, but they do say opposites attract.

She talked to many girls, she only has eyes for her.

Painful addiction.

She trudged threw the snow, listening to stereo typical grunge music, the sound filling her ears and she could hear nothing else but the music travelling throughout her ears.

She hummed to it, feeling the cold air graze her face. Her phone buzzed and it startled her, but none the less she chose to shove her porcelain hand deep into her pocket and retrieve her phone to see who texted her.

Hey

Her fingers fumbled on the keypad trying to form an answer which seemed otherwise simple, but when it was her.

Hi

She quickly responded, hoping she could get a text back.

Five minutes went by, nothing.

Ten minutes went by, nothing.

Not even a notification for Flappy bird.

But alas she couldn't wait all day for her potential love interest.

She reached her destination, school. She opened the door feeling a blast of cold air hit her face.

She removed her mittens and her hat, peeling them off of her skin. "Gwen!" A voice called, she turned around to see her best friend Cassidy approaching her.

Her purple hair vibrant as ever. "Um, hey." She mumbled, "did you get my text?" Gwen brushed her long brown hair behind her ear and looked around trying not to make eye contact.

"Oh shoot, sorry." Cassidy told her sincerely, "I was busy talking to Sarah. I think I finally convinced her to go out with me."

"Sarah?" Gwen asked "You mean Sarah, abortion, Sarah?"

"Whatever." Cassidy chuckled and she linked her arm with her best friends.

"Haha." Gwen said sarcastically, "You're gonna get herpes!" "Gwen oh my god shut up!" Cassidy scolded, "what if you're gonna date a girl like that then you're bound to get something." Gwen laughed.

"Why are you being like this?" Cassidy asked, "You know I like her."

Those words hit her like a ton of bricks, "I'd be a better girlfriend then her." She mumbled, "What?" Cassidy looked at her confused, "is that what this is about?"

"No." Gwen muttered walking to her locker quickly, "Yes it is," Cassidy concluded, "What the hell?"

"It's just-" The quiet girl stuttered "She couldn't treat you like I could." "You're my best friend," Cassidy consoled "Nobody could take you're spot. And you so treat me quite well."

She gave a weak smile as Cassidy left to go to her locker, knowing that it could never be, but she learned to live with it.

Why wreck something so delicately beautiful?
