When Fallenpaw ran into the clearing, he saw Hazelpaw laying on the floor. "Yellowleaf! What happened?" He asked. "It was a monster. She was crossing the thunderpath when a monster hit her," She replied. Fallenpaw ran over to Hazelpaw and began to carry her back to the camp. He knew that he would have to hurry. 

When Fallenpaw finally got to the medicine cat den, he yelled, "Bluetail! Hazelpaw is hurt!" Bluetail rushed over to Hazelpaw and began gathering herbs. "Fallenpaw, I need you to get some poppy seeds," Bluetail said as she pointed towards a pile of poppy seeds with her tail. Fallenpaw heard Hazelpaw moan as Bluetail applied a poultice.

Fallenpaw stood in the clearing, pacing back and forth waiting for the medicine cat to finish her job.  About when he was going to lose his patience, Bluetail came outside her den.  "So?" Fallenpaw asked. "She won't make it," Bluetail said quietly. Fallenpaw couldn't believe what he heard, he rushed inside and sat beside Hazelpaw. He licked his friend's ruffled fur and took in her scent for what he believed would be the last time. "Goodbye Hazelpaw. I won't forget you," Fallenpaw said as Hazelpaw's spirit was on its way to StarClan.
