PHANA'S POV:

I wake up and feel almost warm. Part of that is thanks to my wife who is practically trying to merge himself into my body. Last night we spent the entire time getting warm. The fire was nice but it was the activity that really helped.

Unfortunately it's cold again. Eventually I'm going to have to get out of bed. Do I really? Maybe I can stay just for a little longer. No I'll have to get up and apparently it's happening now since I have to take a piss. I brace myself for what I know is going to be a drastic temperature change and then get out as smoothly as possible so I don't jostle the blankets wrapped around Beam.

I'm right of course. It's fucking freezing. I notice the fire isn't on anymore. I go over and somehow manage to get it turned back on. I stand in front of it for a few minutes until I just can't hold it anymore. I run to the bathroom and take the longest leak recorded in history.

After the shower we get dressed in jeans and the only warm shirts that we packed. We head down to breakfast and notice that we are the only ones who seem cold. Everyone else is casually dressed and look completely comfortable.

"What the hell? Are we the only ones cold here?" I turn and see Kit looking grumpy.

He's shivering slightly and Beam walks over and wraps his arms around him.

"Thanks Sunshine."

Ming, Forth, and I look at each other and smile.

"Let's go have breakfast." Forth says with a chuckle.

We're seated and get our menus. It all looks alien to me.

"Anyone read English?" I ask over my menu.

The frustrated looks on everyone's face tells me that the answer is no. Kit is clenching his teeth right now and has a tight grip on his cane. I know he's blaming himself right now but none of us took the time to look into this.

"Forth don't you deal with Americans? Why can't you read this?" I ask.

"Because Alice mostly...Alice!!! Where are Alice and Lam?" Forth asks looking around.

"Hey thanks for waiting asshole." Lam says grabbing two chairs and squeezing them in.

Forth throws a menu at Alice.

"What does it say?" He asks before she can look it.

She laughs then looks it over.

"There's a buffet so let's get that. I think that's the best idea until you find out what you like." She instructs.

The waitress comes back and looks confused.

"Someone clearly forgot there were eight in our group." Lam says in perfect English.

Not even broken English and he didn't have that accent. You know the ones we have when speaking English because there are certain sounds we can't make. He tells her that we're going to have the buffet and orders our drinks.

Most of us can understand at least some English so could make out what he was saying.

"I lived in America for a while when I was younger." He explains to the unasked question.

"There's supposed to be a store here that you guys can get some clothes from."

You guys? Won't they need clothes too? That's when I look and notice that they're dressed way warmer than us. They look... comfortable.

"Hey, we were asked to come along. How would I know that you would be foolish enough to plan a trip but not do research about it?" Lam asks.

"Oh come on we've been friends for years that's exactly something I would do!" Forth says raising his voice.

Everyone laughs at the truth of the statement. In all the years we've known Forth he's been a leap first ask later kind of guy.

"Don't worry I'll help you pick out some things then we can go sightseeing." Lam says.

"You mean leave the lodge?" Beam asks.

"That's not happening today." Kit agrees.

"I need to feel warm inside before I go to a colder outside." Beam adds.

"Exactly. Good point Sunshine." Kit finishes.

"We'll go with you Lam." Yo says making Ming whip his head towards him with a frightened expression.

"It'll be fun. Besides going outside should make it feel warmer inside." Yo says logically.

He looks hopefully around the table but his smile drops when he lands on the serious expressions of Kit and Beam.

"We'll go tomorrow if there's still somewhere you want to go nong." Beam says and Kit nods his head in agreement.

After breakfast we go to the store in the lodge and get the things Lam and Alice suggest. I can't wait to get changed.

We make sure to get gifts for our families and some cool things for ourselves. We notice some people ice skating and I can see a hint of sadness on Kit's face. Not that he would want to go out there, it's the fact that he can't even if he wanted to. I walk over and hug him.

"I know.  Thanks Sunshine." He says leaning his head against my shoulder.

We bought some more clothes to last the next few days then headed back to the lodge. After putting our things away we met for dinner.  It was easier this time around and it was really good.  We head up to Kit and Forth's room and watch a movie.  Well technically a movie played in the background while we played and jokes around with each other.

Midnight struck and before we became pumpkins we all went back to our own rooms.

All in all it was a great second day.
