Corania rolled her eyes as she passed the non-working elevator. You'd think out of the whole four years of her living here the damn thing would have worked at one point.

Huffing, Corania reached the green chipped door '406' and unlocked it. She removed her coat and hung it on a silver hook behind the door.

The inside was nicer than the outside. When you first walk in, the kitchen sits to the left. A marbled counter separating into the living room. Centered was an old brown couch that they had scored for only thirty bucks at a second-hand store. Passed that was a wide hall that led to their rooms and bathroom.

She waved to Jace, who was shouting into his headphones about a ruined game of Call of Duty. He nodded, too distracted to look away from the screen.

Corania shook her head as she started down the hall. She couldn't believe her own thoughts, but she'd even miss Jace waging fake war during her writing time. She stopped at the bathroom and peeked her head inside.

"So you finally settled on a color, Ali?"

Alice stared into the bathroom mirror, gloved fingers coating her once blonde hair in turquoise paste, pierced tongue twisted in concentration. An old faded ACDC shirt two sizes too big was turning the same shade of blue at the collar, but Alice didn't seem to care. She hummed in acknowledgment.

"Yeah. I've decided to go with the turquoise; it'll look better with my cap 'n gown."

Corania yawned. "It looks nice. I like it."

"You're getting in late tonight, everything alright?" Alice pulled the gloves from her fingers and tossed them, splattering dye against the wall.

"Everything is peachy keen. It was my last night at the café so it was a little emotional."

Alice nodded, then grabbed her bottle of shampoo and shook it. Corania knew their conversation was done.

Walking into her room she closed the door and plopped down on her bed then removed her sneaker. Rubbing the soles of her arching feet. Even though she wanted to lay down and never leave her bed, her stomach was begging for food.

In the distance, she could hear the slamming of the front door and the muffled call of "Dinner!".

Almost skipping into the room, Corania smiled wide at the delectable smell of melted cheeses and garlic-infused tomato sauce.

Everyone else had already taken their seat. She and Grant sat on the couch while Alice and Jace sat on the rugged floor, pizza on the coffee table in between them.

Corania grabbed a steaming slice and dug in. She moaned. "Gosh, 'Mario' makes the best pizza."

"He sure does, I swear I could eat this, like, everyday, bro," Jace said around a mouthful, cheeks puffed like a chipmunk.

"Come on, dude, swallow your food before talking. You're spitting cheese everywhere." Grant laughed as he swiped a piece from his blue jeans.

Alice threw her crust in the empty box. Her head was covered in a plastic bonnet. Making her look like a mushroom. "So what's the plan for after Graduation?"

"Well, I was thinking we could do something like a road trip?." Jace answered while scrolling through his phone.

"A road trip? That sounds like a fun idea." Corania agreed.

"We could use my dad's old wagon. It has good legroom and would fit our bags in the back." Grant offered while he used the pad of his thumb to wipe a smudge of tomato sauce from Corania's chin.

Grant always did affectionate things like this with her, so she didn't find it weird. It actually made her feel seen and cared for. It was nice having someone care about your well beginning.

"We're all going our separate ways soon and we should spend some time together. Let's go out with a bang," Corania said.

"Well it's settled then." Grant stood and punched the air above his head. " We're going on a road trip!"
