After they returned home, the sun was going to rise in an hour and Clay would be going to bed. Corania would pretend that she was going to go to sleep and then she would retrieve the folder, that she stashed inside the closet. Hopefully, inside of its pages, it would tell her what exactly the S.F.B.I was and why they had decided to come to this town.

Corania had so many questions she needed answers too. Like why the human population wasn't aware that vampires were roaming around. So many people believed that vampires were only based on books and sparkled when they touched the sun. How many times had someone gone missing and they were labeled as missing. But it was a vampire harvesting humans for their blood. It was clear that Clay and his coven had been luring travelers into this town and drinking their blood for decades.

How long did the Government suspect that this was going on? And what else were they hiding? Clay had been very open with her and even told her that he had a Witch place a spell around the town. What else kinds of supernatural creatures were lurking in the shadows? And what about these women or men who were the Mates to these creatures? Who was helping them?

Corania mind had almost cracked at the thought that humans were not the top predator out there. That she was connected to a vampire, that they were soulmates. What did this all mean? She tried to comprehend what Clay had explained to her, but none of it had been based in science, it was all instinct and primal needs. The structure of the vampire world that she had come to learn, was that Clay was an alpha male.

Yes, all vampires were strong and fast but Clay was dominant and powerful. He was older than the others and could easily lead them. Let's not forget that he was part demon. Damn demons, so did that mean that Angel was real?

Corania was smart enough to appreciate the fact that Clay's word was law because no one messed with her and that kept her safe. But she learned quickly, that even though Clay was the Alpha male here, she was the person who controlled his leash. Whatever she wanted she could get. Corania knew that mentally she was not prepared to allow Clay to Mate with her and to bite her. The implication of fully bonding herself with him was beyond her.

Human's for as long as they have lived have yearned for more time, and that desire was never possible. To be able to live forever and to see the progression of future mankind. Corania had to ask herself if that was something she wanted.

Did she have feelings for Clay? Were they real feelings? Corania knew that she didn't love him but she did feel a connection. She felt something deep down in her soul that she couldn't explain. It wasn't brainwashing and the fact that she had been forced to be with him. It was the selfish part of her that wanted the comfort and safety that came with being with a man of power. It was the fact that he wasn't a human man and that he was otherworldly. It was the desire for the darkness to go beyond what humanity had to offer. It was the temptation and it pulled her in.

Opening the closet door, she pushed aside the discarded clothes and grabbed the folder, sitting down she started to read over the pages. The folder discussed a mission that had been ordered by the director of the S.F.B.I, to disrupt the ongoings of the town. They had information that the town had a high population of missing people. The S.F.B.I had a vague outline of how many vampires were located here. But clearly, they counted short because the team did not finish the mission and was caught. Corania assumed that they were all dead.

Shutting the folder she carried it with her back downstairs and entered Clay offices slipping the papers back inside the desk. Sitting down in the leather chair Corania placed her head on the desk. Something didn't feel right, searching through his desk. She felt her temper start to build as her frustration grew. She stopped herself from destroying his desk but she found a note. Picking it up she only grew more confused as she saw a conformation for a large piece of land bought and houses in a town called Brookeheaven. Where the hell was that? And why did he purchase land there?

Then her mind went back to what he had said earlier. That he would fix everything. Scanning over the paper again she remembered the address and stored it in her brain for later. Standing up she decided that she needed to get some rest because Clay would expect her to be awake when nightfall came.

Before Corania went up the steps her eyes traveled to the door that led to the basement. Her mind always wondered if Grant was alive and if Clay had been feeding off of him. It was possible since he hadn't bitten her. But she stopped herself from touching the door. She didn't know if more vampires were down there and she couldn't risk it. She still had nightmares from when she was attacked before. Getting under the covers she closed her eyes.
