The depths of space spun like velvet around the vessel, layers upon layers of sheer weight and mass crisscrossing one another to branch into a ship, hurtling through the void.

Within however, was where the mayhem turned order bloomed.

A figure approached the throne and knelt, keeping their eyes forcefully on the floor at the base of the dais. Many had been killed for much less than gazing up at the glory of the one who sat atop the throne they were kneeling before now.

"The Planet has been sighted and we are almost within firing range, My God. We await your glorious command, My Life." The figure muttered, the strange language coiling from their throat like a whisper of a click, and a thin film of liquid like sweat coating the forehead of the kneeled.

"Excellent." The voice sounded of gold and power, awash with strength and a great deal of self love as it echoed against the sleek and curved walls of the arched hall. "Are the ships prepared for the influx of prisoners?" They continued, pulling their words out into an uncharacteristically attentive drawl.

"Yes, My Life. The cells have been prepared and we are in the process of setting up the rings. All should be ready before it is needed." Their tentacles were beginning to slip from their holds wrapped around their head, curling around the edges of their face and flicking about their ears. Concerning.

"Do not attack immediately. I wish to confer with them, and see if they shall submit to my glorious might." The one upon the throne ordered, voice booming though they only spoke to the one other within the hall.

"Yes, My Life." Was the reply, just short of a shake, and weak.

"Go." A beam of blinding, burning light accompanied the word, exploding about the hall and barely missing the knelt one as they lunged out of the way and scuttled backwards like a frightened child. Immediately, they darted from the room in a hurry. That was close, far too close. It would have been the end if they had been aiming...

They straightened once they left the room, raising their chin shakily, breathing a silent sigh of relief. They were alive, miraculously. Stalking along the hall, boots clicking metallically against the floor, they approached the bridge of the ship, stretching over deep caverns carved within the metals, soldiers snapping to attention as they walked by. Weaving between the plates and masses of deep purple chitin lined could be seen for a split second, a flicker of pearly white.

They stared out of the viewport at the rapidly largening green and blue planet, spinning peacefully despite the events taking place on the surface. Chaos, even before the invaders arrived... White clouds wreathed the planet in ribbons, spread out and spinning slowly with the movements of the celestial body. Soon they would be in orbit, and the invasion could begin.

The great purpose for which they had traveled light years to attain.

"We are within firing range, Honorable One. Do we launch?" The nearest soldier asked, one purple-plated hand on the controls that twisted and turned in the most confusing of ways along the dashboard.

They shook their head. "Our Life wants to form a treaty with the creatures first. If it doesn't work, then we launch. Wait for command." They instructed.

The soldier nodded and sat down within the chair arced around to face the controls, the one before them not important enough nor holding a high enough rank for them to remain standing and alert.

The fleet rumbled to a stop in orbit, setting out satellites and cloaking pods, connecting bridges between ships and loading the guns for the inevitable attack to come.

It would be a long wait.
