We had been walking under the scorching sun for hours and, our jackets were tied over our noses, but it did nothing to prevent the smell entering our nostrils. It would have been easier for us if we had used our suit to protect us from the sun and smell, but there was nothing around to power the suit, we decided to keep it, for emergencies.

"I am so thirsty," Juanita moaned fanning her face.

"So am I," I muttered. We hadn't seen any living soul since we started on this journey of no destination. We had finally seen trees, but no animals, what we have seen so far were just insects. It was getting dark already and if we couldn't find shelter, it would only mean sleeping out here in the woods.

"I don't like this woods," Juanita said as if reading my thoughts. "We don't know the things that lurk out there and my feet hurts and I'm so hungry and-"

"Juanita stating our problems won't help with the situation, also if we're still in this woods when nightfalls, we'll have to climb trees so no night..." I stopped talking and stopped walkin. I had just heard what sounded like the twig of a tree snapping.

Juanita stopped about three feet before me when she noticed I wasn't walking. "What's wrong?" She asked.

"Didn't you hear that?" I asked looking round the woods trying to see if I could see anything.

"Hear what?" She asked following my eye movement. "Chidera is the hunger getting to your ears?"

I rolled my eyes. "I think something is following us." Just as the last word left my lips, we heard another twig snap. "Did you hear that?" I asked again.

"Ok, I heard that." She moved closer to me. We stayed still, keeping quiet as we tried to pick up any sound around us.

The only thing we heard were the rustling of trees around us, and the chirping of crickets. The sun was already settling down and it's afterglow had created monster shadows of the trees around, and that did nothing to help the rising fear in me.

"Maybe it was the wi-" A growl came from behind us, making my spirit almost jump out of my body. We both screamed and turned around to see what had approached us.

My body ran cold seeing what was before me. It had black eyes, which had sunken in deep, it had dirty nails that were really long, thin and pointy. The skin looked very dry and pale, it was stretched tight around the skin that you could count every bone in the body. From the open mouth from the monster I could see the bloodstained teeth which spittle ran down from.

It cocked its head to the side looking at us in a strange manner. Then it let out a hissing sound and took a step towards us, I took one back and Juanita followed.

"Juanita," I whispered.

"Y-yes?" She replied in a shaky voice.

"Run!" And as the words left my lips, the creature ran towards us. With a loud shout, we turned round and began to run.

"What the fuck is that thing?" Juanita asked as we ran.

"Do you want to stop to find out?" I shouted, I could hear more steps behind us and prayers it looked like the monster friends had joined in the chase. I didn't turn around to look but they were fast gaining on us.

"I don't want to die! I am to young and beautiful to die!" She shouted.

"It doesn't care about your beauty Juanita."

We pushed past the trees, which would at times slap our faces as we ran. I wasn't even watching the path I took, as long as I am far away from whatever was behind me.

"We have to climb a tree Juanita!"

"What are you saying? I can't hear you!"

"I said, we have to climb a..." One of the monsters placed his hands on me. With a shriek, I turned round and pushed it to the ground, not waiting for a second, I turned round and continued running.

Juanita was ahead of me now, screaming out loud as she ran, which I didn't think was a good idea. She could just be drawing their attention to us. The next thing I knew, I saw Juanita falling face flat on the floor, she had tripped on a branch.

I rushed to her and helped her to her feet. "Are you okay?" I asked.

"I think so," She groaned in pain, as she got to her feet.

We looked round just to see we've been surrounded. They we're about five of them around us, while Juanita and I stood in the middle, two helpless teenagers.

They reminded me of the creatures I see in the movies, Zombies. But Zombies were just fictional and didn't exist, Zombies were humans who rose from the dead with a craving hunger for brains. They looked like Zombies, but there was something different, their eyes, why were they so black? Who are they and where are the people that really live in the Gonzite land.

One of them gave a hiss, it was a female, I knew that because of the fallen breast on her chest, she wasn't wearing a shirt, in fact, she wasn't wearing anything.

"W-What are they and why are they staring at us like that?" Juanita asked shakily.

I remember watching a movie where I had seen creatures of similar resemblance. "I think... I think they are gorillas."

"But there isn't supposed to be any Gorilla in the land, right?"

"Only in the Nevite land." I replied. The only nonrobotic animals you could find back in the Nevite land were chickens, turkeys and cows and few birds. Animals which could be killed and eaten were the ones taken, people were now owning robot dogs and cats.

The female took on step towards us, her hand stretched forward in a catlike form, the others followed in this movement walking towards us slowly, there was nowhere to run too.

"Oh God," Juanita muttered. "Oh God." She repeated.

I bent down and picked up the same branch Juanita had tripped over, I held it towards them. "Stay back!" I yelled.

"Yeah, or we'll break your head!" Juanita said.

But it was like they didn't hear us, or they just didn't care. The male, the one we had seen first, went low and jumped towards us. Juanita and I held each other that tightly and screamed.

A gunshot was heard, the male dropped dead before us. Another was heard and more followed, the creatures scattered round. We couldn't see the people shooting, but we could see the creatures dropping. Soon, all five of them were on the floor dead and the shots stopped.

We stood in silence looking round the woods.

"Ok, what just happened?" Juanita asked. Her answer came from the woods, three people, dressed all in green walked towards us. Two boys and a girl, one of the boy held a tube to his mouth, pointed at Juanita, he blew to it and the next thing I knew, Juanita had slumped.

"What the fuck!" I shouted and turned back to them. "Who are y-" I found myself falling down too. "Bastard," I muttered as darkness took place.
