Hey guys! De here, I just wanted to put a disclaimer that this chapter will delve into Rain's abuse a bit more, so please be aware!

The Hospital was cold this time of night, the tiles felt like ice and you could see your hot breath right in front of you. Mono was never sure why the Nurses kept it so cold here, wouldn't you want for patients to be nice and warm to fight off fevers and illnesses?

Abandoned blankets and empty chairs lined the hallway as he and Rain continued their way to getting the battery they had seen earlier. No word were shared between them, just silent gestures as they went.

The flashlights each of them now possessed shined down the hallways, light reflecting off of the tiles, the floor glossy and cold. The air was still, no one had been through here a while it seemed like, the idea seemed strange, Mono knew rebellion members came here often to get supplies.

Bandages, medicine, cloths, sometimes food when they were desperate. Mono remembered Seven also use to come here to restock his flammables. Nitroglycerin, rubbing alcohol, and...whatever else Seven needed. Mono didn't really listen to him when he started going on his rants about Molotov cocktails and gunpowder hand grenade...things.

Seven would always get so into his monolog about his dangerous concoctions, he would get this glint in his eyes ashe spoke. He would talk with his hands, motioning and emphasizing his words with them. The memories made Mono smile a bit. Seven was so... different now.

Rain was a lot diffrent now too, before she was cheery and full of smiles. Now, she was quiet, staying by herself as they made their way down the hallway.

The boy looked over, looking to the former Oracle. Rain was looking around, shining her lights on some of the posters and walls. The walls looked grimy, just like the floor, some drywall exposed in some areas.

It looked like a wreck in here, whatever happened must have-

Rain suddenly stopped in her tracks before she sprinted off, catching Mono's attention. He ran after her as she came to a small side table, a small mountain of books on it.

"Rain, what are you...?" Mono stopped as he saw her climb up the chair beside the table, before jumping onto it. She reached down, picking up a clip board.

Did someone leave it here? Mono could see the papers on it, seeing Rain's eyes flicker over the words. Mono held his light a bit higher for her. "What's it say?" he asked.

Rain took a moment, before she quickly hopped down from the table, clipboard in hand. "It's a patient report. Someone by the name of Roger. It says he came in reporting of muscle aches in his shoulders and arms, and feeling a strange buzzing feeling in his head. Someone by the name of Doctor Hank looked at him, but they weren't sure what was wrong."

Mono looked over her shoulder, noticing her lean away a tiny bit. He read over the words, but his eyes struggled to make out the words. When he stared at a word, it grew blurry and wiggly, his head starring to pound slightly.

Mono pulled away, holding his head, whining in pain. Rain looked over, a small look of worry on her pale face. "Right, forgot you were concussed..." she muttered, before fishing her hand into her coat pocket.

It felt like someone stabbing him over and over again, just like in the alleyway. Just like then as well, Rain reached into her pocket, pulling out a small white pill. She handed it to him, which Mono took generously.

"Hold it, don't chew," Rain reminded him. Mono could only nod his head to her, letting the pill desolve just like last time. Rain went back to reading, though Mono thought it was probably best not to try and read again.

"Roger was later place into the ICU, where he was monitored closely. During the night, it says he was screaming in so much pain as he clawed his own eyes out. It said he was screaming about... eyeballs watching him, and the world around him in some kinda of fleshy mushy mess... Roger was reported to go blind as later was released due to the hospital rapidly growing too crowded. The date is about... fifty years ago? That makes it seems like right around the time the Rebellion was founded by Commander Un..."

As Mono heard her talk, he held the medicine in his mouth, a thought came to him. "Hey, Rain?" he said around the pill on his mouth.

Rain stopped reading and looked over, putting her finger on the word she had stopped on. "Yeah?" she asked.

"What are these pills you keep giving me?" Mono asked, a hand still on his head as the aching slowly came to an end. Rain took a moment to reply, a small look of confusion on her face.

"Omniprotin, they're the only things that work to help with your headaches, remember?" she asked quietly. Mono shook his head. Rain looked at him, puzzled.

Did... did Seven really not tell her?

"Has Seven said anything?" he asked. Rain continued to look at him with confusion. She glanced at the clipboard, before looking back.

"I... I don't think I know what you mean?" she said slowly, a skeptical look on her face. Mono recognized it as a look of untrusting, much to his disappointment. Maybe he could explain then.

"Rain, I don't remember anything, not in a whole at least. Whatever happened to me, I don't remember it. I don't remember what I did to you, Seven, or the weird feral. I felt like I was asleep for a really long time, but I'm sorry, I know what I did was probably really bad and I hope that-"

"Stop."

Mono stopped speaking, taken back as he looked up at the Oracle. She stood ridged, looking at him. Mono frowed his brows, confused. "Stop...? Rain, let me continue-"

"I said stop," Rain said suddenly, her tone sturn. Mono took a step back, looking at the other. She dropped the clipboard in her hand, her hand clinching into a fist.

"Rain, wait just hear me-"

"I said stop!"

Mono gave a small sound of surprise as Rain pushed him, making him fall. He landed hard on his rear, dropping his flashlight. Rain towered over him, her breathing picking up a bit, he could see a bit under her bangs from his position, seeing her green eyes staring at him with tears.

"I'm done with your stupid lying, I'm tired of you brainwashing me!" She snapped at him. Mono looked up, confused, a bit shaken as well. He never seen Rain so upset, ever.

Her heavy breathing quickly turned into  sobs. "You think you can lie to me again and try make me believe all of this is my fault somehow! I'm not going to be your little pet this time, not anymore you bastard!"

"Rain, please, I'm trying to tell you the truth, I don't-"

"NO! No, you're not! I'm done being lied to by you! I'm tired of you hurting me, all of the cuts and bruises, on my body and in my head. I'm not gonna let you hurt me again!"

Bruises?

Rain noticed his stunned look, she rolled up her sleeve, much to Mono's horror. Her arm was covered in bruises, new and old, cuts shallow and deep dressing it.

"If you don't remember, just remember that you did this to me. I don't care who and what you are, but your not my friend or Commander anymore; you're a monster, Mono, just like all of the adults in this peice of shit world."

Rain fixed her sleeve, before picking up her flashlight. Grab her.

Before Mono could rethink what the voice said, he was already on his feet, and grabbed Rain by her hoodie. Rain turned, and for a moment, the world stood still.

Rain's face was soaked with tears, her cheeks flushed from angey and her crying. Her hair was slightly frizzled and Mono felt his stomach lurk when he spotted a faded dark circle around her eye.

Punish her.

Mono pulled Rain into a tight hug. The voices continued, but he tried his best to block them out. Rain was important right now, he could never do those things to her, not ever, starting now.

"Let me go!" Rain protested. Mono held tighter, pressing his head to her shoulder.

"Rain, I'm not whatever I was earlier, I promise. I'm not going to hurt you," Mono said, not loosing his grip on her.

Rain continued to thrash, before she finally able to get him off. She pushed Mono down again, the boy looking back up towards her. He saw how small her pupils, something about the look made him feel some sort of déjá vu.

The memory was fuzzy, but he could see the vision of Rain looking up at him. She was crying, her coat dirty as she curled up on the ground. The memory made his stomach churn.

"I'm not gonna let you hurt me again," Rain said, her voice low and emotionless sounding, a tone that Mono had never heard her use before. She was serious... but serious about what, Mono wasn't too sure of.

"Doctor Hank to the incinerator, I repeat, Doctor Hank to incinerator! Unknown fire found!"

Suddenly, the lights above them flashed on, flooding the room with light. Mono closed his eyes, being blinded by the sudden invasion of light.

The decrepit and grimy hallway was now on clear displace, rows of empty chairs and abandoned doorways as far as the eyes could see. Rain scurried to hide as shuffling was heard from... above?

Mono opened his eyes, taking a moment to adjust, before was able to hear the noise getting louder. The ceiling creaked loudly as it sound almost like footsteps from above. Mono quickly got to his hands and knees, crawling under the chairs.

He was send back a few steps, the wind knocked out of him. He coughed, looking up, seeing Rain standing there, her eyes covered by her bangs. Did she just throw him out from...

The boy didn't have time to think, as before he knew it, the monster making the noise suddenly rounded the corner. Mono stared up at him with wide eyes, too scared to make a sound.

The monster was a large, caterpillar-esk like adult. His hair was greasy with what he had left of what remained, a baldspot right on top with the rest of it receding. He wore an old, nasty white shirt, and Mono couldn't help but notice how his face looked like it was stretched back. His eyes were wide open, and his lips looked like they barely could cover his large, rotting mouth.

He held onto the ceiling with his arms and legs, tiles moved to allow him to crawl around to wherever he'd like.

Mono wanted to scream as they made eye contact, his diffrent color eyes meeting soulless black beady ones. Mono could feel himself uncontrollable shake as he stared down the behemoth of a monster.

The adult came closer, almost to where he could reach down and grab him-

"Doctor Hank to the incinerator!"

The voice over the intercom went off again. The monster, The Doctor, looked forward, before looking back down to the boy.

"Stay," he said, his voice low and sounding rusty. He pointed a large, nasty finger at the boy, before he crawled away, hurrying to wherever the intercom was calling him to.

Mono still felt frozen, staring upwards to where The Doctor had been. The lights were still on, his face no longer hidden by shadows.

Rain walked out, looking over to him. Mono could do nothing but stare at her. The two didn't share a word, Rain grabbing her flashlight and the clipboard she found, getting her items situated before she turned, walking away.

Mono watched her walk away a few paces, before he finally found the strength to get up. He got to his legs, reaching and grabbing his own flashlight.

Rain didn't turn back or even cast him a glance, the clipboard still in her hand as she walked. Mono followed her, staying far away from her.

Rain tried to get him caught... who knows what could have happened to him if The Doctor had grabbed him. She didn't seem a bit remorseful, or at least, she didn't look like it. Had he... had he done something that bad she wished to get him killed over?

"What did I do," Mono said, his voice echoing in the hallway.

Rain stopped, before looking back. "What didn't you do to me?" she answered back. Rain reached behind her, grabbing the back of her cost.

She pulled it up, Mono greeted by the sight of bandages, old cuts, and a deep scar that was still healing.

"You said you cared about me... you said what you were doing was for my own good. If it wasn't for Nosebleed and Seven, I know I would have been dead a long time ago."

She pulled it back down, before reaching her hand towards her bangs. She moved them out of the way, showing off her eerie green eyes.

"When you tried to execute Seven, you pulled me close and told me to keep my mouth shut. When I tried to protect my brother, you said you would kill me and Nosebleed and everyone who stood in your way..."

Mono couldn't move. He stared at Rain, his thoughts and mind at a stand still.

"I'm just a shell of who I used to be because of you. You broke me down, isolated me from everyone. You tried to kill my kin to try and get me. When we read Un' journal, and Seven told me everything that happened at the river, I realized you weren't the Mono I used to know. I put up with everything, because I just thought it was the right thing to keep the Rebellion at peace, but now, I see how much of an idiot I was."

Mono watched as Rain brought her bangs back down over her face.

He... he did all of that?

"Rain, I'm so so sorry. I never knew, I-"

"Stop it. I don't want your apology. After this, I don't want to ever see or hear from you again," Rain cut him off. Mono didn't speak, he felt like he couldn't breath...

Rain turned back around, walking back off again.

He coughed and spit up blood as he held his bleeding throat. Seven laid in the grass in front of him, seemingly paralyzed. He looked up, his vision rapidly getting darker. Rain, Rain, please help, Rain!

Mono stared forward as he followed the former Oracle. Not a word was spoken between them once more...

*sips tea*

Rain finally snapping and standing up for herself feels way nicer than writing her as a victim.

Also, sorry for such a heavy topic, but I felt like it was time Rain finally said something. As for why it was so fast, I'm so sorry, my pacing is off and I'm trying to relearn.

Also, yes, Seven had a little too much fun with the incinerator. Gotta love the pyromaniac!

Take care everyone!

Just some touching up on the spelling and grammar, I also dialed down the detail for people just in case. I know domestic violence is hard for people, which is why I bring light to it in my stories. The more it's swept under the rug, the harder it is to end. Admittedly, it isn't my best handling of it, but next time I go over it, I'll do better.

Take care!
