MS had mostly been watching this Ring drama unfold passively but now he decided was his time to step in. Well he thought stepping in was neccessary because well he felt sorry for Ro and didnt want Ritika to be upset on her special day, but mostly he wanted to intervene just for the fun of it. He quickly texted Sakshi, "Go and console Ritika, tell her the ring has been found, it was with me. Rohit will be coming down with it in 10 minutes." As the three kept on mock consoling Rohit, while Virat tried to decide when would be the perfect time to return Ro his ring, MS quickly slipped out of the room and returned after a few moment. When he came in Rohit was saying "Where do I look for it?" "Look, I am telling you its gone to the landfill with garbage." Sikhar said convincingly. "Give her a wire ring may be." Virat said innocently "Tell her its made with love." "And tears, and blood and sweat" Sikhar added. Jinks looked like he would burst out with laughter. "Jute se pit degi mujhe." Rohit said exasparated. "Nahi pitegi" Jinks said tried to sound consoling "Bas jab tak tu zinda hai tujhe woh bhulne nahi degi ki tune ring khoyi thhi." "Yaar, help me out" Rohit said "I have looked everywhere. Where could the ring go?" "To the landfill" Sikhar said gravely again. "I dont think so." Mahi said walking in and dropping the engagement ring in Rohit's lap to everyone's surprise. "Take it and go down" MS said "Bhai...aap...how?" Rohit said not able to form a coherent sentence due to his utter shock. "Do you want waste time in hearing those answer right now and risk angering Ritika more." MS said in a deadpan voice "Or go down and wait till the end of engagement and I will give you all the answers." Rohit still looked confused. "Trust me Rohit, you dont want to piss your would be wife off on this special day, she will never let you live it down." MS said and then bent down and whispered "Wives are scary." Rohit deliberated for a moment before deciding to go down and meet Ritika he would get the answers later and also he knew if MSD didn’t want to give him the answers now, he simply wouldn’t. But had bhai hid the ring, he surely wouldn’t. So he had found it, but where? With these unanswered questions on his mind, Rohit headed downstairs, to his own engagement function with the engagement ring finally in his pocket. “I will come in a few moments.” MSD said.

On the other hand, while MSD was speaking to Rohit, our three musketeers were as shocked as Rohit. This definitely wasn’t in their plan. Mahi bhai wasn’t supposed to find out. But even bigger concern was, how much does he know? Did he know they had hid the ring? Or did he just manage to find the ring? The eyed each other, communicating without speaking . Jinks rised his eyebrows as if to ask “Does he know?”  “I have no idea.” Virat shaked his head. “May be he just found the ring.” Sikhar tried to convey. “How would he do that?” Jinks eyed them “He is MAHI BHAI, he can do anything.” Virat eyed. “But does he know its us?” Sikhar was more concerned about that “He would guess it anyways. Lets get away before he confronts us.” Jinks insisted sensible. And they turned and were about to follow Rohit out.

 “Where do you think you three are going?” MS said from behind.

 They stopped in their tracks and turned.

 “Virat beta, tu to gaya” Virat mumbled to himself under his breath.

 “Sirf tu nahi, hum sab gaye.” Jinks mumbled almost inaudibly.

 “Whose idea was this?” MS asked in an almost amused voice.

 “What are you talking about?” Jinks asked mastering his most innocent face.

 “Its not going to work Jinks” MS sighed. “Whose idea was it?”

 “We really don’t know what you are talking about.” Virat said, looking almost as blameless as Jinks.

 “Your acting skills are oscar worthy” MSD said “But it isnt working.”

“Bhai humne sachmein kuchh bhi nhi kiya” Sikhar tried their luck for the last time.

“Main akhri bar puchh raha hun” MS sighed “Kiska idea thha? Aise bataoge yeh thappad khake wo khud soch lo.”

“Jinks ka idea thha bhai” Said Virat and Sikhar in unison pointing at Ajinkya.

“What?” Jinks said “I was the only one who had agreed begrudgingly, and now you are throwing me under the bus.”

“Don’t worry Jinks, I know this can’t be your idea.” MS said “You all debuted under me, I know you guys well enough. So, Cheeku, whose idea was it?”

“Bhai…” Virat tried “It was mine” He gave up.

“I guessed as much” MS said “And Sikhi must have thought it was a great idea?”

“Yes” Sikhar said bowing his head.

“hmm” MS said in grave voice.

“Sorry” Jinks said

“There is no need of sorry” MS said in an amused voice “because I think it was a great idea, bas thora pehle khatam kar dete isse, ab zyada ho raha thha. Waise bhi sorry Ro ko bolna, he is gonna be very mad at you and after the engagement tell Ritika everything. Now come on lets go down.”

“But bhai, apko pata kaise chala ki we are pranking Ro?” Virat said.

“Ab Ro suspense mein hai ki ring mere paas kaise aayi, toh tumog bhi thhora suspense mein raho ki mujhe kaise pata chala this is a prank.” Mahi said looking at them and laughung “Come on lets go down now.”

After that the engagement got over smoothly and all the guests left. Virat explained to Ritika that it was a prank on Ro, after the engagement and made sure that Ro didn’t hear him cause Ro running after him with a bat in front of Ritika’s family wouldn’t have been very dignified. Ritika just laughed and said “Waise sahi kiya. I hope he stops bieng so careless after this.”

Mahi, Virat, Sikhar and Jinks were sitting in Ro’s room, a little exhausted from the function. Ro walked in after seeing Ritika off, unbuttoning his Sherwani and he plopped on the bed, “Thank God she wasn’t angry.” Rohit said “Actually, she seemed so happy and I am happy for that, I like didn’t have to explain anything at all. It was very strange though.” Rohit was almost spoke to himself. Virat, Jinks and Sikhar looked at each other sheepishlyi. MS gave them a stern look prompting them to tell Ro hit everything.

“Ro” Virat started “Wo actually na tu ne ring khoyi nahi thhi. We hid it, it was a prank.”

“What?” Rohit almost shouted “Tum tinon ne. But why?”

“Why? Kya why?” Sikhar said “Aise hi maza aa raha thha.”

“Sikhi” Jinks reprimanded “Ro we are really sorry. But tune subah se apna chahra nahi dekha thha na, it was damn funny.”

“You too Jinks” Rohit said looking utterly betrayed “I thought atleast you were innicent.”

“Did no one ever tell you Ro, looks are decieveing.” Virat said.

“You shut up!” Rohit said “It must have been your idea.”

“How is everybody guessing that?” Virat wondered aloud.

“May be because its always your idea Virat.” MS said, amusedly listening to their conversation till now.

“No it isnt.” Virat said “I am a very innocent person.”

“Yes, of course” Sikhar said “And I have a thick head of hair.”

Everyone laughed at that, Virat looked indignant.

“You guys are the worst.” Rohit said. He didn’t look very angry, he knew his friends, the wouldhave give him the ring before anything went too serious. He also understood Ritika wasn’t angry because they must have explained t her it’s a prank. But suddenly he thought something. “Mahi bhai, were you involved too? Did you also do this to me?” He asked like a whiny kid.

“No I wasn’t involved in the plan.” He said “I just understood they were pranking and eventually decided that it was three against one so I should help you out.”

“You are the best Mahi bhai.” Rohit said hugging MS from behind.

“But how did you know it was a prank? And when did you guess it.” Jinks asked.

“And how did you find the ring?” Virat asked.

“Well actually I guessed you were pranking him right when we were looking for the ring in the morning. Then I started thinking where could you hide the ring. You wouldn’t hide it in Ro’s room, so it had to be either mine or Jinks’s. Mine seemed the more probable one cause Rohit wouldn’t think of looking there. So I went to my room, found the ring hidden under the carpet, you probably had kept it this mornig and kept it in the wardrobe and then went about doing my thing and waiting for you guys to tell him but you three seemed to pull it too long,” MS said.

“You knew from the morning but you didn’t tell me.” Rohit said “Why Mahi bhai? Why?” he said being dramatic.

“Chup.” MS said “Ek toh ring table pe chhorke chala gaya kal. Janta hai na apne doston ko. Ab aise samne se mauka dega toh yeh teri zarur lenge. Upar se shukar mana ki maine de di, varna in my opinion inhone bilkul thik kiya tere saath, tu aise hi sudhrega. Who toh inhone bhi zyada hi khich diya.”

“Bhai ap bhi inhe support kar rahe ho.” Rohit said.

“But tumlogon ko Ritika ko nahi involve karna chahiye thha.” MS said. “Khamkha paresan ho gayi wo.”

“Bhai usse nahi batate toh parti kaise isse.” Sikhar said.

“Maine toh boht pahle hi ring wapas karne bola thha, in donon ne hi khicha isse.” Jinks said.

“Ritik ko pakka Virat ne batya hoga.” Rohit said.

“Aur kaun karega aise achha kam” Virat said “But bhai, how did you guess that it was a prank?” Virat asked again.

“Well, I know you guys too well.” MS said “When I saw Rohit in a problem and you guys not genuinely worried but amused, I knew this as ti be a practical joke. If Rohit had genuinely lost his ring on his engagement day, you guys would have been as worried as him.”

“Yeah.” Virat said looking at Ro.

“I was so worried today.” Rohit said “I hate you guys.”

“No you don’t” Virat said getting up and hugging Ro from behind “You love us.”

“How can you hate your opening partner?” Sikhar said joining the hug from one side.

“And you and Virat had once established that its impossible to hate me.” Jinks said joining the hug from the other side,

“Get off me” Rohit said, but made no effort to push them away.

“First say you love us” Virat said till in the hug.

“Ok fine” Rohit said “I love you, you idiots.”

“We love you too” Virat said “Even though you are the most careless, forgetful person ever.”

As MS watched them he felt a warm fuzzy feeling in his heart, he had found these boys, they were his boys and the bond they shared was so, so precious and he knew it will always remain the same.
