Unknown POV

Night fell upon the city as I walked to the apartment. The day's activities had tired me. No doubt that they would have tired my goddess's, too, but her more so. There is a lot I don't pretend to understand. The communication spell being one of them.

I climbed up the stairs towards my bed. I missed my bed. As soon as I get in there, I'm going to apologize to it.

When I unlocked the door, I was greeted to the aroma of pot roast. My favorite. There could only be one explanation and her name was-

"Tali! I'm back!" I shouted. My roommate was probably tidying up her room. I could her a song in English from the doorway. Eye is always saying how we should try to adapt to our life in California.

"Miyu!" Eye came into the room. "What took you so long? Your food was getting cold!"

We always used code names out loud. It was something we came up with when we were young and it stuck. We couldn't risk someone finding out our identity even with the slim chance that they had heard of use, so we used the code names. Even in our heads we used nicknames in case someone could listen in.

"I just got lost for a little bit. You know how I love to wander." I smiled. Eye was trying to look mad but it wasn't working. I knew she could never be mad at me. It was the same the other way around, too. Her happiness was infectious.

Eye had long, blond hair, but her skin somehow a light tan, like she was a beam of sunshine. I wouldn't be surprised if she was. I had chosen her new name. Tali. It meant dew. Eye had a sparkly and there was something about her that made it hard to look away.

I looked at my reflection in a nearby mirror. My dark hair was past my shoulders, reminding me that I needed a haircut. My eyes were an unnatural purple that put people on edge. My skin was a dark tan, another anomaly since I barely spent any time in the sun, preferring to go out at night.

Eye had renamed me Miyu. She said that the named fit perfectly because I was, and I quote, "The 2nd most beautiful person to ever roam the night. No one has anything on the moon goddess."

This brought my thoughts to Jemisha. The most majestic being to ever grace the earth with her presence.

Eye must have noticed that I was drifting away into my own little world. "Hey, Miyu. You still with me?" She snapped her fingers in front of my face for good measure. If anyone but her did that, they wouldn't have fingers anymore.

"I'm fine. Just tired. We can eat the pot roast tomorrow." I sighed. I really was too tired for food, much to my disappointment.

Eye wore a soft smile. "I'm tired, too. We could watch a show while we eat and wind down?" It was impossible to say no.

"That sounds good."

We snuggled up on the couch and watch 2 episodes of New Amsterdam before Eye fell asleep. I could feel her even breathing as she rested on my shoulder.

Before long, though, she started to mutter strange words. "Nuru... Stop her!... Must warn... Fist... Vengeance..." Eye trailed off leaving me to be puzzled by the nonsense she was sprouting.

"Don't worry, meu leubh. We can sort this out mañana." I kissed the top of her head and fell into a deep sleep.

Hey guys. Sorry for the late at night update. I would do it in the morning but I probably would have forgotten.

Is it just me, or does it feel like this book is getting less popular? I haven't had any comments for the past 2 chapters and have only one sign that a person is reading this besides the view count.

For this reason, I'm going to remind you to vote for the past chapters if you want. The same for comments. They're what I look forward to when updating.

You know what? I'm just going to give up on this book until 2 people let me know that they're alive. I have a whole book of ideas I should start working on.
