Three days after the whole incident, Buddy was declared dead. Snowball and the Flushed Pets had cleared away all the rubble in the Cool Zone. They couldn't find the slightest sign of the dachshund or the mutt known as Scrappy. Chloe and Pops theorized that both dogs had been disintegrated into ashes.

I should've stayed with you Buddy... Mel thought wistfully, his chin resting on his paws. To his left, Sweetpea remained eerily silent on a small table. Both the pug and the parakeet were saddened by the loss of their friend. However, despite the evidence at hand, Mel refused to believe that Buddy had perished.

If anything, Mel believed that Buddy was still alive, hiding somewhere in the city.
