"If this rain keeps up, I'm gonna evolve into a fish!" Jet hissed, clearly irritated as usual. Buddy and Sonya watched quietly from a nearby cardboard box as the black cat glared at the dark clouds above. Huffing, Jet got to his feet and headed off towards a dumpster. Once the cat's tailless behind vanished inside, Buddy commented, "I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that he's like this every single day." He smiled teasingly.

However, Sonya didn't laugh as she muttered, "He's been like this ever since the day when Rex the Ruthless was killed." The fur along Buddy's back stood up as he whispered, "Rex the Ruthless?" Nodding her head, Sonya quietly explained, "Rex was the most feared cat to ever live on the streets. He was the old leader of the Alley Cats and, as the name implies, very ruthless. We're talking about a hairless cat who had legends swirling around him."

Scuffing her paw, Sonya continued, "Anyways, Jet was a member and a good friend of Rex's. Then one day, the Alley Cats discovered him dead, having been mauled to death." Beckoning Buddy to lean closer, the female pug hissed in his ear, "Most speculate that he was murdered by none other than Danger. There's also a rumor that Rex was still alive when Ozone and Nitro found him. They were able to share some last words with each other. Either way, Jet and his brother left after that."

Heart pounding, Buddy couldn't believe his ears. I better talk to Ozone the next time I see him, he mentally noted to himself.
