Twenty-two years ago King Matthew chose his wife. Queen Pennie was a vibrant and beautiful selected that Matthew was happy to choose. However, on the night of the proposal, it all went terribly wrong.

Matthew had just gotten down on one knee when a jealous ex-selected stood up. She started chanting and raising her arms up high. Windows shattered, lights went out and the sky outside started turning green. As the chanting ended she disappeared and all returned to normal. Everyone looked around and all seemed well until everything changed.

The land had been cursed and everyone along with it. Many quickly discovered their curse and everyone fled to try to control it any way they could. That was the end of that. Now the curses have become a common part of life in Illea. When a baby is born tests have been made to discover their curse early on so that one can learn to deal and control it.

So now 22 years after the curse was placed, Matthew and Pennie's twin boys are 18, so they are ready for their selection. Although it is a little unorthodox to have 20 girls competing for 2 guys they believe it will work, for both boys have their strong suits in ruling the kingdom.

So now we wait. Thousands of girls from all over Illea will apply for the selection, but only 20 will be asked to come live in the palace and compete for the Princes' hearts.
