Bubbles: Welcome back, hatchlings. This chapter is designed to give you a crash course into the different types of merpeople. Yes, that's right. Seven. I know, it can be overwhelming. Don't worry, though. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon.

LadySapphire2018: This chapter contains spoiler information and pictures. If you would prefer to imagine what each species look like and/or be surprised as new species are introduced, I'd advise you skip this chapter. For everyone else, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the species presented below.

1) Amissas: Latin for lost.

These are ghost merpeople. These spirits are best known for their psychic powers and escorting Novi to their settlements. Before becoming ghosts, they were either a Novus or another species of merpeople. Amissas generally reside wherever they please, but some Amissa settlements do exist.

With skin the color of moonlight and hair white as snow, Amissas always present a haunting image. They do not physically age after their transformation and their tail colors and types vary greatly from one Amissa after another.

Egg Color: Silver.

Gem: Diamond.

2) Anguis: Latin for snake.

They seem to be your standard kind of merpeople, but their tails share more in common with snakes than the other six species. They live in the Atlantic and Indian Ocean. Widely regarded as being perhaps a bit too similar to their animal counterparts, they're best known for their rivalry with the Bellator Kingdom.

Egg Color: Green.

Gem: Serpentine.

3) Bellator: Latin for warrior.

These merpeople are widely considered the most aggressive of all the species and they're notoriously competitive. Ironically, their tails are generally come in fiery colors such as red, orange, blue, purple, and white. They can mostly be found in the Indian Ocean.

Egg Color: Red.

Gem: Ruby.

4) Calidum: Latin for warm.

These tropical merpeople are the smallest subspecies and generally inhabit the Pacific Ocean. Their tail and hair color ranges considerably and they're best known for their flirtatious, carefree demeanor.

Egg Color: Pink.

Gem: Pearl.

5) Novus: Latin for new.

This hybrid species is often collectively referred to as 'The Butterflies of the Ocean.' Novi have one human parent and one merperson parent. Novi come from all backgrounds and thus their human features and tail color ranges considerably. While they hatch from eggs, they live as normal humans until they reach maturity at which point, they grow a tail and are escorted to a settlement. Novi reside in these settlements until they make The Choice.

Egg Color: White.

Gem: Emerald.

6) Primus: Latin for the first.

These blue skinned merpeople were the first of their kind to evolve and all other subspecies can trace their origins back to these mysterious them. They prefer to live in the icy cold, deep waters of the Arctic Ocean. They're best known for their reclusive nature and their enormous eyes which are twice the size of a human's.

Egg Color: Blue.

Gem: Sapphire.

7) Protegere: Latin for to shield or to protect.

They are the largest species of merpeople and are best known for their protective nature and mostly golden tails. The only exception are the king and queen who both have silver tails. These brave mermen and mermaids will not hesitate to rescue people from drowning in shipwrecks. They tend to stick to the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Though they have been spotted in the Caspian Sea as well.

Egg Color: Gold.

Gem: Amber.

Thank you for reading this glossary. For those interested, chapter two will contain more intriguing information about merpeople biology. Yes, it's time to learn all about hatchlings.
